You always got some crazy idea in your head for modifications. But it would be sweet!!!:headbang:

my day Job is working at a company that builds Jetted Bathtubs, Ive built many fiberglass molds from drawings, it Just takes time which I dont have much of SJR

I still have this car it could be the pattern, I just need a few guys with nothing else to do to do the work

How about a baja hatch?

I agree... no sense in chopping off the back of wagon since that defeats the purpose of it being a wagon...

but the biggest roadblock to the front end is the radiator mounting being too low... would need to relocate it, or get a shorter one...

it's just not as easy as it is on a vw where everything is just bolted to the floor pan...

chop off car, build up with wood and bondo, pop off a mold and start making parts

Structural integrity? To do it right, the reinforcements would pretty much negate your weight savings. You'd mostly be gaining approach angle if you moved the radiator, but even that is limited to a few inches by the front of the motor.

I used to have a baja bug, it was sweet!! My friend had an old one too, it was so rusted you had to make sure you didn't get your feet between the pan and the body when it opened up on wheel articulation.

Hey what are those wheels off of?

When I photochop bobbed my Brat a while ago I made all the measurements and took as much as I could off the front that would acutally work in the rear. It was 6". With a custom bumper that would really make a Subaru better offroad. Oh cause you'd need the rad mounted in the rear.

Couldn't it be mounted flat above the engine with vents in the hood? (maybe a rubber gasket between it and the hood, and the fan blowing down)

I run a full size spare so it does not fit under the hood of my GL anymore.

I did some measurements and my radiator would fit easy flat above the engine where the old space saver spare was.

Just a thought. Could keep possible leaks due to long hoses at bay. :)

Real problem would be filling/checking the coolant. Have to rig some kind of hinge so you could stand it up for that. And hoses that would allow that.

If you run 6 or more inches of body lift, yes.

When I measured it, it would fit behind the aircleaner, at aircleaner level, in the spot the spare tire used to go. No lift needed. The real problem is rigging some kind of long flexable hoses so you can flip the rad up for filling and checking. But fitting it there is no problem.

But mine is an EA81. The Roo in question is an EA82. Not been under the hood of those much but is there less room?

Maybe when I do my engine swap I'll do a real test fit (i.e. just stick it in the spot) before putting the rad back in. and put up some pics.

Do you have a "porta-spot"?

http://www.amh.ca/anglais/

You would scribe two lines, either side of the "chunk" you want gone, cut the piece out, then weld the chunks together.

I can do the cut and weld thing no problem, I would like to redo the rear bottom portion for more clearance and also offer the finished fiberglass part to others thanks
