  3. The tank is a "saddle" design, and relies on a siphon action in the return line to pull fuel from teh drivers side, over the hump, into passenger dside where the fuel pump/pickup is at. It is possible that the OP here has situation were the siphon is not picking up the drivers side fuel. Pull the fuel pump and inspect the siphon action.

  4. Okayokayokay... if you're having fun watching me obsess over it (sicko), I've got one more bone I can toss you for now. I threw the 'scope on the three wires that are used for communication between the two modules, and at first glance it doesn't appear they're running anything as complicated as the synchronous serial protocol I speculated about earlier. I haven't done much with it yet - just watched the lines when I enabled and disabled the security system - and I think they just strobed one line to signal the change of mode. I'll have to read a little more closely to see how many different states there might be and try to correlate that with how the state change signals might be encoded, and look at the microcontroller's data sheet to see what the pins (on each board) serving those three wires are capable of. Other than getting in and out of valet mode I haven't been very interested in the security module, so I don't get yet what-all sets it off. The easy thing to do on the bench is just give the shock sensor (that little grey box in the upper right) a little rap, but obviously there are a bunch of other conditions that can trigger it, so they'll represent different messages being passed. We'll see about all that later.

  5. Are you in Montco or Delco Springfield? BJ's, Costco and NTB all sell name brands at good prices. I put both Michelin or Bridgestone on our Subies as replacements for years and been happy with both. The Michelins last longer but as they age get a harder ride and traction starts to diminish. The Bridgestones perform just as well for a longer period but wear faster.

  6. The difference there is the newer R160 and the older R160. Newer being the weird tribecas and ascents. Older being everything else. The vLSD housing didnt allow for enough room and has a different inner one spider dosnt come out like the others.

  7. I got my xt out of auto purgatory aka my parents place haha! Its been nine months. Yes I drove her like I stolded her. These cars handle so nice! Ej22 swap on deck unless the passenger cylinder head is good (fingers crossed!!!) I want to race these two, 88 audi q90 vs. 85 subaru xt at 24 hours of lemons My poor 86 with ej remains waiting, with the family chariot, 1953 chevy bel air.

  8. Turbo is DOHC. Best to pull the engine to remove the heads (probably possible without, but it's best to tilt the engine on it's side, as the cams have to come off to get to the head bolts). Smoking out the exhaust could be just about anything. Without a pretty in-depth diagnosis, assume it needs a complete new engine w/turbo.
