  1. Success! Carquest had a $20 bearing that fits. New belts and she's good to go. Also got my Pioneer stereo installed with new speakers in the front doors. I am super happy.

  2. I've been slowly combing through various subsystems on my RX and the most recent system to get some love was the PCV system. I found that every hose is still available, except the one that attaches directly to the PCV valve on the intake manifold. I ran down to my local auto parts store with the original hose in hand to pick through their selection of hoses. WELL! It turns out that the small heater hose from a 2002-2009 Ford Explorer (Dayco P/N 87730) is almost a perfect fit. Hose was about $7 and needed to have a small portion trimmed off. NOTE: EPDM is NOT oil safe, so until I find a better solution, I'll need to keep an eye on this hose to make sure it isn't perishing too quickly.

  3. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CUNNLBY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I replaced mine a couple of months ago. It still works but now it makes some weird noise. You may want to buy a better brand. Good luck, sam

  4. It was a wheel bearing. Wet and rusted. Failed seal, and a lesson learned to drive your driveable cars at least once a week. A new piece of general advice when pulling the rear hub on a 96-03 or anything with "long bolt". Lift the rear set and disconnect the ABS wire, then undo the 2 bolts holding it to the suspension arm, because the end in the knuckle is probably not going to budge. I feel I lucked out on the long bolt, in that it was not rusted into the rear bushing. If it is you are in for a fun couple days. I have a pic on here somewhere of how to force the cut off end through the bushing. Wheel bearing. Did I say that right? Wheel bearing.

  5. IT is a standard 62xx bearing. I've replaced a few of them. The ones with contact seals last a lot longer, but you have to go to a bearing supply shop, or search ebay / amazon for specifically that type of seal. Forget shielded. un specific seals are ok, but won't be as good / last as long.

  6. Use the rubber wheel. I took my entire Brat targa strip off with one recently and it was super easy with no paint damage.

  7. If it turns over but no spark at plug I would check the make sure the rotor is not stuck, i.e. screw fell out. If it does not turn over lights, camera nothing I would check the small wire going to starter as well the alternator of all things might be shot or not connected. Those are the 2 things electrical I had a problem with.. Aside from failing to connect the MAF where it would temporarily start but die. Where as Dave suggested ign to on position STOP before starting you should hear towards the back a hmmm.. then a click from under the hood that your fuel pump pressurized when the fuel filter has filled up. 8. Wouldn't hurt to check the engine ground wires. Does the fuel pump run for 2 seconds? Try diagnostic mode with the green connectors plugged together, it should cycle on and off with the key in the run position. Check the 2 multi pin engine harness connectors?

  9. The coil bracket is also used as a ground. If loose no spark.

  10. just a spring loaded bumper. Keeps the hatch closing from being a big slam. Also provides the initial "pop" open when the handle is pulled.

  11. I will be pulling the junkyard transmission out sometime this summer and bring it to the junkyard for an exchange. For now the car drives and moves on its own so I can move it around to avoid getting towed here the city. Grandma donated her car for me to use in the meantime, so the "emergency" is over and I can replace the trans with a better option when it arrives. The reason I bought that transmission originally was because on Memorial day at the junkyard they charge half price for everything, so i saved about $70. A couple years ago there would always be 3-6 1st gen legacy's at each junkyard, I was spoiled with options! As soon as I was looking for a specific car (wrecked in the rear, 93-94, low miles) I couldn't find anything! This was the only 94 Legacy in any junkyard within 150 miles of me on Memorial Day, so I bought it as a placeholder of sorts. I thought it was junk, but after the Subaru technician said "normal wear and tear" I opted to throw it in and see. I'll be collecting an assortment of solenoids if anyone needs one in the future! Thanks for the input everyone! Ill be posting more soon.
