  1. have NEVER used anti-seize on spark plugs - there is no need to. you are not supposed to torque them in that damn tight.

  2. Ya, pictures would be awesome. Those seem easy to find at a reasonable price.

  3. NGK plugs already have nickel alloy coating on them. On aluminum you can install them dry. I do. There's very little room to access the rear plugs, I usually use a plug socket -> short extension -> tiny wobbler coupling -> wobbler extension -> wrench. Outside temp sensor would be on bumper, lower opening near license plate.

  4. There's a way to put it in Valet mode (check your owner's manual), that will prevent the alarm from going off. You might need the remote, though. Also, when you get out of it, lock the car with the key, not with the button. This will not arm the security system and allow you to unlock it with the key normally. If the alarm is going off, put the key in the ignition, and quickly turn it from "off" to "on" (2 clicks) 3 times. This will turn off the alarm and allow you to start it. And yea, used fobs aren't hard or expensive to get a hold of, and you can program them yourself (instructions in the owner's manual).

  5. Way to go. Everything we have today good and bad is because someone experimented. Don't forget to post the results even if it is a year from now, otherwise no one will know.

  6. On one hand, that makes perfect, reliable, practical sense. On the other, if nobody tries the Mahle future generations will search here in vain for the answer to this question. So I'm going to try them. For the children.

  7. If you go OEM don't use the 11044AA633 gasket as it is the same kind installed that fails. Use a 643 or 770 (last three numbers) as those are MLS gaskets. FelPro have been used by some with good success.

  8. I went on a 13 day trip of just over 5000 miles a few weeks ago. This trip report will be multiple posts and it will take me a couple days to put them up. Tuesday night I camped in Nebraska. Wednesday afternoon I decided to take a break from driving on the interstate and check out Sager's Canyon trail in UT just off 70. It was fun. Fairly smooth so probably recently graded, many turns and a few jumps. Part of it went through a narrow canyon and had a fairly steep climb out but nothing too difficult. At the top I got out of the car to try to hike to the top of the bluff but it eventually just became a vertical wall. Tried to get to a couple campgrounds in southwest UT just off the highway but they were closed due to a past fire. Took longer than expected to find another campground but I eventually did. I spent the next few days with my brother and a couple friends in southern CA. Meanwhile Z and B were driving B's blue long travel Forester to meet us near Vegas. On the way they stopped at Black Dragon Canyon for a lunch break on the UT/CO border.
