  1. These are the items that have some wires and vacuum hoses going to/from them. There’s two of them mounted side by side, black cylindrical looking things. The solenoids rarely fail. Repair the wiring and vac lines and the 4wd system *should* begin to wor again. Take some pics of the rear of the driver’s strut tower andpost them here. Cheers Bennie

  2. a little update that GD gave me. car is having some paint done this weekend. next week the engine get dropped in , tuned and tested! Guess the headlights had moisture in them so they took care of that and are putting 2011 wrx heads on it. he was also able to get a rear spoiler for it! Just wanted to say that General Disorder has been awesome to work with. <------cant say this enough on a side note i kind of had a freak out moment. i got a 1 way ticket through frontier and the other night i got an email saying that the ticket had been changed. when i called i got a messege saying that it was a computer glitch, to check online and that call wait times were over 60 minutes. when i checked online everything was fine. I used to like flying when i was younger, now it just seems like a huge hassle countdown: roughly 312 hours give or take a few

  3. it does. By holding the brake, and stopping the axles from rotating, they become firmly tensioned against the CV cup walls. This effectively becomes a tripod mount that becomes stationary, taking away the vibration dampening of the rubber mount. It happens in Subarus more than other makes because of the relatively long, angled, and equal length axles.....making an even triangle that stiffly locks the trans firm in relation to the body.

  4. Hey, I never really had occasion to post in Members Rides, but last week we bought our seventh Subi, and I thought I would line up the fleet for a group photo. These are all Outbacks - 2005, 2012, 2018. The two older ones are H6 engines, which we like. This is Subi 4, 6 and 7. Our daughter took off with 3 (which she rolled in the snow), and 5, which she took to Colorado with 265,000 miles. C

  5. Cut the oil filter and check for metal. Could be a timing belt tensioner - hard to tell from the video. If it's a rod, you will see metal in the filter. DO NOT drive it. You will wreck the cylinder heads and they are EXPENSIVE. Best deal going is the Subaru reman short blocks for about $2350. Cylinder heads will need complete disassembly and cleaning - especially the intake rocker assembly - of all contaminated metal. In the US this is usually about a $5,000 to $6,000 repair. GD

  8. Run the engine, and then the new oil filter should take up what you are finding as "extra"...
