  1. I have built an EA-82 with Stage 1, Delta Cams in it and I saw an old post on Legacy Centeral.org (2005) by a guy Gary, (All_Talk) stating he had made some for the EA-82. Does anyone know of him or can some one speak to this topic of the need to fine tune the cam timing with a Stage 1 cam grind? I also run a 38/38 Syncro Webber Carb. and a 2.5in CAT back exhaust.

  2. I'm in Delta Junction, a little south of Fairbanks. Yes, use an oil pan heater on your automatic. We all do that up here, because our transmissions last longer that way. I used to do it on my manual gear boxes, too, before the synthetic gear lubes came along. Also consider a synthetic ATF. One morning 30 years ago I was driving in to work in a two-ton Chevy, and I tried to shift the two speed differential. It was about -40, and the stinking thing was too stiff to shift ... I was coasting, couldn't get into gear. I got lucky and it eventually went back into the other position, so I didn't need a tow. I bought silicone heat pads for every gear box that shifts after that. My modern gear boxes from the '80s use synthetic ATF, so the situation is less dire now.

  3. Just try rapping on the pump with something like a screwdriver handle a few times. See if it will jar it free. May take more than one attempt.

  4. +1 I would just swap the tranny and rear diff if necessary. I would NEVER opt to install and EA82 in place of an EA81. Not saying it's a bad motor, but it has many more things that can and will go wrong if you're not vigilant with maintenance. I do not believe pounding a dent in the rail will allow for proper clearance either. Iirc, you can't drop an EA82 into an EA81 body that hasn't been lifted without cutting an welding. Not to mention, if you did somehow manage to shoehorn it in there, now you can't do any valve cover, cam tower or head gasket work to it with the engine in the car. Nope, wouldn't do. Definitely wouldn't do it. Nope. Definitely. Yeah, bad idea. Definitely. lol
