  1. So my 92 loyale has a digital AM/FM radio with the tape deck. The tape deck is hooked to the head unit via 8 pin DIN. I read a few topics on how to make a cable, but none on how to mod the tape take and keep it. So inside the tape deck there is a pin header that is soldered on the board at the end of the 8 pin cable. This is the pin out: Blue = Left + Red = Right + Yellow = Audio - Black = Power - Brown = Power +12v Green = Tape in deck. Turns head unit on, but disables radio. So you can solder an aux cable to red blue and yellow. It seems the head unit automatically mutes the radio signal when my phone is connected, didn't need to wire a switch to the tape in deck signal

  2. I'd like to see that too - a thread for keeping track of what's good and what's junk. For example, I've been really happy following GD's recommendations on non-OEM timing components, assembly lubes, etc., and it'd be helpful to everyone not to have to hunt through hundreds of threads and thousands of postings to find that info.

  3. After tinkering away for a few more weeks I figured Id post an update. I decided to swap the chassis bushings with poly Superpro bushes as it wouldn't make much sense running slicks with 34 year old bushings. The only bushings I was unable to find in the aftermarket were the transmission cross-member and the rear sub-frame bushings. Here are the part numbers from the ebay seller. I don't own a press but this tool was a life saver. It might be from launching on sticky tires at autocross but I seem to go through a CV axle a year and find the Cardone axles to be junk. I found this "heavy duty" set on Rock Auto from TrakMotive so we'll see how they fare this year. A rotor freshen up and new CV's, bushings, and semi metallic pads in... along with a power rack with lines looped as a manual conversion. While I was at it I decided to replace the engine and transmission mounts. In the past I've had problems with the exhaust heating up the steering rack boots causing them to crack so I decided to pick up some DEI header wrap to mitigate the problem. As you can see I had some leaky rocker cover gaskets that left their mark... rust prevention anyone? I've had great success using Remflex header gaskets on my small block chevy and wanted to give them a try on the GL manifold... this part number fits perfectly. The custom Diamond racing steelies showed up so I had the slicks mounted. The specs are 13x10 5.5" backspacing and they seem to just clear everything inboard with no rubbing. I think the setup looks pretty tough and can't wait to take them for a spin on course... til next time!
