  1. Hi there I,ve been racing for a few years now with my old 1989 Xsi Honda integra fitted with a integra type R motor, adjustable suspension and slick tyres. And she goes pretty good and reliable. The classes I race in have a time brake out, which I've managed to run to as I've got better and improved the car. But in the last 2 years the brake out time has dropped 3 seconds. Which doesn't sound like a lot but it is for my car. I could turbo or super charge it, but then your looking at some serious money to keep it reliable. Now the other car in my class are things like, RX7 turbo and na Mitzi turbo Volvo turbo V8 mustang with big power 6 cylinder cars (similar speed as my car) a few Hondas (similar speed as my car) So you can see fast cars. So I was looking for something that would be a bit more competitive, with room to improve. I've always liked subaru's and have owned a few over the years. legacy, wrx, sti, forester, so why not a Subaru. Good traction, pretty quick (would have to be an sti). New fuel pump, exhaust and a link ecu, should make 220 kw at wheels. But the problem is the price of and sti round the 1999 v5-6 model would set me back here in new Zealand around $6000 to $10000. Bit steep for my budget. So while at one of the meetings I ran in someone with this little beauty. Mid mount Subaru engine. So it got me thinking. My brother got a few Brumby's (brat) at his place. Why not mid mount brumby with ej20t engine. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm End of part one

  2. Clean example. Be nice to know if the mileage was genuine. https://www.graysonline.com/lot/0001-60014822/motor-vehiclesmotor-cycles/1992-subaru-brumby-4x4-manual-ute?spr=true Cheers, Al

  3. On our 95 Legacy one of the three metal pipes that run up and across the top of the fuel tank began leaking. I replaced them with fuel injection rubber hoses. I did them one at a time so I didn't get them mixed up. Supply, Return and Vapor. It was a little tricky, but I did it without dropping the tank.

  4. Where is the car from? If AZ I doubt it rusted out. Filler tube most likely. Also check the fuel pump. Someone may have done a poor job of replacing the gasket on top of the tank. Or fuel line up there.

  5. That sound is not lifter tick. The oil levels, no it didn't run out of oil. By this age and miles, the oil leaks should be pretty obnoxious. I resealed them by 150K miles typically. These engines have a few quirks, but if kept lubed and not overheated, they run for a LONG time. But keeping these going is a project. Many parts are NLA, from dealer or aftermarket. You have to be prepared to be collecting parts when you find them, doing your own work, because most garages won't touch them , or will wreck them if they are not old model Subaru specialists. I have 2 nearly identical 4WD wagons, I use as daily drivers - but they are backup for each other - if one has a problem, the other is available to cover while parts are found / made / adapted / re conditioned.

  8. @el_freddo - I kept the SMJ so I wouldnt have to go through and connect all the wires running through it to one another. Seemed the easiest way to go, its a solid connection, uses factory wire colors etc, and makes things pretty easy to trace. I de-pinned the extra wires coming from it, tightened it good and snug. As a matter of fact, I took it out just a bit ago, hooked up the ECU and harness, run my 12V hot lines where they need to go, relays kicked on as they should, sprayed some starting fluid in the intake and BINGO! She ran! Sounded rowdy as all get out because it has no exhaust, and only ran long enough to burn the starting fluid (I hadnt connected fuel pump yet) but, you are exactly right! SHE RAN! And yes, all wires are labeled where they need to go etc. Thats why it was killing me I wasnt getting power and nothing seemed to be working. I went over and over it and it didnt make sense. Checked my SMJ and while it had connection, it was a bit off so it wasnt getting good contact. Tightened it down good and snug and got it sorted out. I knew trying to ask for help with the wiring would be rough, but, I was at my whits end. Thanks for the Feedback Bennie! Allan

  9. @darkstealth16 - wiring is always a hard one to diagnose over the forum, even over the phone at times! Glad to hear you go it sorted, it’s the best feeling short of firing up the engine with your cut down loom! SMJ? Super module junction or what ever that big joint with the bolt is called? If so, you don’t need that! Have you labelled all your wires so you know what’s what the next time you test or go for the install? Cheers Bennie
