  1. The heads are completely different and very odd. The EA81T heads have injectors mounted right on them. They are nigh impossible to find. Also Turbo Brat's were only made in 83 and 84. Not made in 86. GD

  2. 1.8L L4 SOHC 8V (1800cc). This GL is the base, AT/ECVT. 2nd Generation GL. The ECU (or it has another name) I read controls the ignition on start up and also controls the carb.

  4. The answer you don’t want to hear is no, they’re not interchangeable unless you’re stepping from EFI turbo to NA carb. You need the heads with the injector boss in them. When they said a head was bad, what did they mean exactly? Blown HG?? If it were me in your position, and I had the space to store it while pulling the engine down (and the mechanical knowledge to do it) and the desire to have a unique Sunday cruiser, I’d go for it, even more so if the body is rust free - that’s the bad part to get! A replacement head could be sourced. I might take some time but you’ll find what you need eventually. Cheers Bennie

  5. For checking the links, you are better off using a spare light bulb, like a brake light bulb. One end to the battery - or frame, the other to each end of each link, in turn. A volt meter is good, and all, but a bad link with a high resistance connection can show as good with no load. The lamp test is the load. Even better, check volts while the lamp is lit. You cannot test amps unless you put the meter in series with whatever load you are testing, and many loads in cars are way too high for typical amp meters, so you really want to know what you are doing before you do that, or you will need a new meter, or worse.
