  1. I had this problem recently where it ran fine but ran like poo at high RPM when it was hot. It would keep on running like poo until the engine cooled down. I checked out the choke and the ignition coil, and then I took into a mechanic and long story short they said it was the HItachi carburetor. He said he has a contraption to mist gas into the intake, and if he did that it ran fine. I replaced the carb with a weber and it has been running well since.

  2. I’m curious how you set the limits. When I do motorized shades I do that either on the unit itself at the motor while toggling the step motor or remotely if that applies. So where would you be able to set limits from ? Thanks for the education. I’ll likely have a 2017 or one from that era .... oh maybe in a few years. For now I stick with the old school. Too much electronics these days.

  3. Fixed it, the signal line from the intake manifold came off, for some reason Subaru used the smallest vacuum line known to man then didn't put a barb on any of the nipples go figure. It's ultimately my fault though I replaced the old line with a silicon version years ago which was a little bit more slippery and obviously not the right diameter and it blew off under boost. The manifold line was so crusty it's probably been like this for years, I am surprised it passed smog with that constant vacuum leak. I tested the system with a compressor and pressure regulator sure enough as simulated manifold pressure came up so did fuel pressure in a 1:1 ratio.

  4. Hoard the bits like the rest of us. This way you ensure you won't need them. Disposal will jjinx you

  5. Keep the engine for a spare/spare parts. Give the transmission the proper burial that it deserves - which is a sleeping bag filled with cinder blocks and dropped into the nearest river. 3AT's are hot garbo and I don't wish one on anyone - especially one with problems. GD

  6. Better option is the Subaru reman short block - 3yr / 36k warranty. GD

  7. The Sparco's are heavy too. People don't care. The K02's have good sidewalls which is more important than weight if you are going to bounce around off rocks. Though most people never go over anything larger than a speed bump taking little Johnny to school. GD

  8. Hi Bennie, Thanks for the information. I feel it is a timing issue also but I've followed the steps in the manual while setting the cams and crankshaft before putting the timing belt on (see attached picture). The metal cam gear (driver side) is under tension and the plastic cam gear (passenger side) is not. Paul
