  1. You can still get those filters from Subaru and they are cheap. Just FYI - they are better quality than any of the aftermarket stuff. GD

  3. New washer arrived this week. I bought 4 of them, at $1.38 or something like that it'll be good to have some extras. In my humble opinion, I think the one I fabricated looks pretty good! I plan to put the new ones on in the coming weeks when the weather gets a bit better, also will be an opportunity to have my daughter do the replacement. She is currently driving the car and enjoys helping and learning about car repairs. I thought I'd add a photo of the Subaru.

  5. Ok, so I put a wire between the ignitor and the coil to replace the blue wire and the car fired right up on all four cylinders. Thanks for all the help guys! Tomorrow I will find where the blue wire is broken and fix it.

  6. On some cars it IS the same ECU, but some pins on the connector need to be jumpered together to switch from one trans type to the other. someone with better info will respond but, look for evidence of a clipped wire or an added jumper wire on the connections from the ECU.

  7. Thanks all for the honest replies! It is always hard going on a forum and asking questions because often it is difficult to get real answers.... like asking the inmates at an asylum if you are insane or not. Sounds like if I wanted to get my 80's car kick on as someone who is 6ft 2in and 250lbs I should probably look other places. I will certainly stick around the forums though since we have the Crosstrek and will be doing stuff to it to further the JW theme. At some point in the coming weeks we will be pulling the headliner and removing the stock rack so we can install an UpTop Overland low profile Alpha roof rack. I will try and take pics and document the process so hopefully it will be a help to others looking to go this route. Thanks again. -Karl PS- Moosens, If you ever get the chance buy a f650 Dakar! It was an incredible bike. Easy to work on, tough as nails, and fairly comfortable to ride long distance. When I had it I did multiple long trips into Southwest Texas and Mexico. Also did a 2 week trip to the Grand Canyon (mostly on road) where I pretty much lived off the back of the bike. If set up right and with the right rider that thing seems like it will go anywhere you point it.

  8. Wow... So, it does like the newer battery. Sure beats poking around with meters. Gotta remember that next time it happens.

  9. Y’all are lifesavers! Switched out the second filter and the bucking is gone — runs and sounds so good!
