  1. R12 is out there for sale. Current pricing is about $2000 for a 30lb cylinder. I know where I could lay hands on about 120lb of the stuff for the price of asking. It's not as rare as you might think. As for filling R134 - it's done by weight. When that isn't appropriate or possible it's done by system pressure which varies based on ambient conditions. It's not that difficult really. Being a shop owner I invested in a $4,000 AC machine so I can have my joe's recharge systems and be fully compliant with the laws of the land. Don't wish to engage in any imperial entanglements over not properly recovering refrigerants. GD

  2. Update!!!!!! Earlier fixes were just coincidental, Issue returned and after more research, the car was going into limp mode and the fuel was being cut. Could not figure it out. Recently had an unusual flat where the tire had to be replaced. Bought a new set as they were at the end of their life anyway. Two of the rims were so out of round that they could not be balanced. Finally got two new rims of same style and switched the tires. Issue solved!!!! It seems the wheel sensors told the ecu that things were off and put into limp mode. In other words balance the tires. Hope this helps the next person.

  3. I got them in 2004 when I bought a used BRAT for parts off a guy in Jacksonville Fl at the NAS. See photo below for picture of the side rails on the parts BRAT THey are the original ones that SOA sold. He had them on his BRAT. I dont know of any other way to mount them other than drilling. I am in the process of respraying the paint so now would be the time to go ahead and mount them. They have been sitting on a shelf for 17 years and are in great shape.

  5. Update. Thank you to Lucky Texan, it was indeed in the vent line. There was a crack in the hose at the barb fitting. Cut it out and all is good. Thanks again. Who wouda thunk it?
