  1. I got some slotted polyurethane pucks on Amazon that allow me to use the lift points for the OEM scissors jack; the slot allows the pressure to spread to the body and protects the pinch welds. I like having the jack stands as wide as possible for stability, and feel much more comfortable using this method. I also got a slotted puck for my floor jack to protect the lift points, and occasionally use it on the scissors jack lift points if necessary. By the way, I found a long-reach floor jack at a reasonable price - it makes it easy to use the recommended lift points.

  2. You'll have to make your own. I would suggest pre-bent stainless tubing for the bends, bead roll the ends, and connect the segments together with silicone heater hose. GD

  3. Yeah, really. lol This time it's a 21 Sport. We love it. I threw a 1 inch lift and some ATs on it. It kicks butt in the off pavement. It's seen plenty of time there. It pulls the the trailer like nothing doing. (thanks Mick)

  4. We use a line of blue silicone hose called Purosil. There's several suppliers that carry it - we get ours from XRP in California. They have vacuum and heater hose variants - we use both for PCV and vacuum and have been doing so for years without any issues. All of the sizes have a minimum pressure rating of 50 psi and some are rated to 100 psi. GD

  6. Indeed. Fairy lucky with both my daily 2003 and this donor car 2000. New England and on the shoreline. Oh how many Subarus have I heard that crunch noise on ? And Oh the pain that goes through your heart at that moment.

  7. Well, I just got back from a Denver-area Subaru dealership and they said the problem is in the ignition cylinder and it needs replacing and re-keying to fit my current keys. Estimate is $878 including locksmith. $637 for ignition cylinder and rekey. That price looks awfully steep... Granted the price includes the base $150 charge for diagnosing the problem.

  8. Your profile says you live in Wisconsin, but then you mention lifting by the rocker panel. I'm guessing your cars are less than....8 years old? Even on our '04, which I removed the rocker molding at 130k miles, the rockers are not safe to support the weight of the car. My 350k mile 2000 doesn't have rockers at all.... Yea, those are nice on a solid car, but if you live in the rust belt, be very careful!

  9. Maybe cut off the cracked end and stretch it out a bit ?

  10. That radio has a story , of course. So one day some local bigwig got permission from the FCC to put up a radio station and its towers across the street from us - roughly. The transmission from that station would naturally blur over many other stations , pretty much all of them excepting the local high watt news/BS station. Ok here’s the tickler. You could even hear that station in an appliance !!! Yes , we all went over to Uncle Gus’ place so we could witness the radio coming from the fridge!! True story. I’m sure there’s similar out there. So , that radio you see was the station’s hush up gift to various neighbors who complained. Enjoy !

  11. Cold high idle results in higher transmission fluid pressure when engaging reverse. Rear diff to subframe bushings are probably shot. GD

  12. Jack the front end so the tires are off the ground, then try and unlock it. Had this issue with my wifes 05 OB. When you park, make sure the wheels are straight with no tension on the rack
