  1. Hey folks. I am thinking about selling or trading my 88 xt non turbo part time 4wd. It has two owners including myself and 192k miles. I daily drove it for the longest time and now the cv axles are gone (as they do on this platform). I have quite a few parts including headlights, front bumper, little odds and ends, passenger window etc. Fenders are rusty but what can you do its an xt. Does anyone have any idea on what I should be asking price-wise for it? Is this something to hang on to? Thoughts? Thank you all!

  2. If the cap is on tight, then get new Subaru gas cap. Subarupartsforyou.com is located at Dan Perkins dealership in Milford. Order on line, wait for confirmation and then pickup at counter with no shipping cost and online pricing. use code reader/eraser like THIS erase codes then do the sequence for setting system readiness. It's posted here somewhere. I think here in CT we can get away with one "not ready" and still pass. I had the P0420 through 4 emissions inspections by clearing the code, doing the dance and then straight to testing site.

  3. Without the OB spacers they are quite tight to get in 2” on top of the strut. I don’t know any tricks except giving it lots of effort. I’ve pushed the strut inwards while partially lifting under the control arm to compress the strut in order to shorten the distance and angles of the CV. Once it gets partially compressed the knuckle will pivot in and the strut bolts will line up. But I doubt others have done that I had a similar problem with a 2” lift and tried many axles and they all did the same thing you’re describing on one side of the vehicle but not the other. I doubt you’ll have that issue though as I seem to be the only one lol Many on here have installed lifts so I’d ask a lift question rather than an axle question to get them to bite. what lift - are you sure it’s 2” and installed correctly - it should be offset to account for camber.

  4. there are 2 pairs of single wire diagnostic connectors on older Subarus... one pair is green, the other is black.. they are there for a 95, I know this for fact since I owned one. they should be UNplugged for normal driving mode.. 95 was a voluntary OBDII setup, Subaru did not have to do that, but they did.. they also left the diagnostic connectors.

  5. yup, you should be able to unlock the shift lever look for either a small hole, or maybe a small cover near the top of the shifter cover.. most commonly on the left side, but i guess there are a few on the right If there is no obvious hole/cover, you may need to pull some of the trim around the shifter.. if you find the hole, use a small screwdriver in left hand to push down - does not take a lot of pressure - then with right hand, move the shift lever to neutral it is possible that when the strut popped thru, and the body of the car dropped that things got squished/torqued,
