  1. yeah and I keep a fire extinguisher in the car. I have done this with all cars since I had an engine fire in a 72 PS 1800 Volvo-- UPDATE: my mechanic's boss saw a post on a Facebook page asking for car rentals places and they felt bad (small mountain community) and called me to say that the boss and him were personally diving in to the motor (that was at 9:20am) to try to get it done for me. I was pretty blown away, it has been three hours without a follow up call so I am pretty sure they did not find another issue and I have a feeling I will get the car back today. thanks man

  2. parts stores will loan tools, one that is often available is a kit to pressurize the cooling system. That way you can diagnose a leak without dodging hot liquid.

  3. Can do. Turn the key in the ignition to "on", the spot just before starting the engine. Buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt 20 times within 30 seconds. Immediately take the key out of the ignition. Enjoy your chime-less Subaru Edit: you only have to do this once and the chime is off for good. Unless your battery dies. Also, you can toggle the chime on/off by following the same instructions.

  4. The FPCU will not work w/o ignition pulses. If a test light on coil negative does not pulse when cranking, you are not going to get fuel. Fuse #5 supplies some FPCU power thru the ACC position of the ignition switch. Run position supplies other power. You should have power on 2 wires w/the key on. .Fuse #13 for the coil.

  5. FerG I'm not sure 'bout only having 2 wires again. I have a yellow wire coming off my NEG post and two black wires coming off my ignition coil. One leading to the condenser which I marked in the photo. Here's the pic

  6. I have what's called a "noise reducer" coming off the Ignition coil. It is grounded. A mechanic in a Denver soobie shop put it on and explained to me why it was missing. has something to do with hearing the engine rev thru the radio. Here's a schematic showing it belongs there Is this incorrect? I'll take a pic of the condenser L8r today. You are also correct about the "V vs Amps" correction. It was very late when I posted my request and I dunno what the hell I was think'n (auto pilot I guess). Now what's this thing about a "newer" FPCU? Got a link or a direction you can point me in? And BTW thanx for your advice!!!

  7. Got an electronic ignition module in the dizzy? A dead coil will kill the module. So replace the module, get spark, fuel pump cut module magic box thing will send power to the fuel pump. Cheers Bennie
