  1. Why the hell haven’t , or DIDN’T , we (the almighty USMB) have a centralized national show/meet in Colorado? They got me out to the PNW for the West Coast Subaru Show #20 and that was very very cool. I have also been to a few east coast meets including when we would club up at the Carlisle Import show and also have attended the Wicked Big Meet which is mostly newer Subarus. But holy cow Colorado is Subaru country. That’s all I’ll say. Nobody needs to try to make this happen. It’s just a thought. This board used to be one happening place. I can think of three main guys in CO that have helped me and we have Larry still helping people with parts, all great folks. Take your Subaru to Colorado. It’s kind of a religious experience.

  3. Feeling way better now. That sun kicked the crap out of whatever was in me. I saw 117deg. today , nothing new to me. Happens most of the time I show up in this state. Couple more days here and I’ll be growing horns and a pointy tail.

  4. Rough call mate. You’d be better off posting his in the present 90’s onwards EJ forum My biggest question would be who rebuilt the engine and did they know what they were doing? For your first car I’d be going for something that’s stock, reliable and easy to maintain. With this you’re buying a whole lot of aftermarket gear that you and your son most likely know nothing about, nor would you know what’s stock and what’s not - that doesn’t make it easy to follow up replacement parts. Lastly, yes it looks awesome, but you could be buying someone else’s problems which is often the case with highly modified and raced vehicles unless you know the vehicle from being at races/in the owners circle of friends. 5. Not at all. Never owned one (other than a few dozen I've fixed/upgraded and sold). Build them all the time to 500+ HP though. Also junk and I wouldn't own one for keeps. I'm a "things that make sense" guy. And my decisions in that regard have made me a successful business owner - one of which is that I work on Subaru's because they are plentiful in my area, often broken, and they have qualities that endear them to people who put way more money than they are worth into them - that equals profit. I don't actually drive the silly things other than test drives..... that would be silly. LoL. As to how I "feel" about the motor. I've been doing this probably longer than you have been alive and trust me it's not a "feeling" guy. These are hard-earned facts and statistics. That engine is absolute $hit. Wouldn't take one or a dozen of em if they were free.... I would have to be paid to remove them. GD

  6. Do a search on the forum. Many have done it and from what I remember all of them crack the ring lands of the piston - I don’t know if this naturally happens over time with boost or if the builder got boost greed… GD isn’t a wrx guy per-sae, he runs a very successful Subaru specialist workshop and I believe he’s had loads of experience with the EA81 and EA82. Personally I think the EA82 is possibly Subarus worst 4 cylinder engine. Box cams suggest a rush into the over head cam 80’s marketing catch cry. I’d take an EA81 over an EA82 any day. I’d recommend an EJ conversion. From factory the EJ has similar power figures to the factory EA82t - but with much less complication in its build/operation. All the best with your decision and whichever way you go. Cheers Bennie
