  1. likely underhood on an 04, I think earlier models had it on the charcoal canister? 2 wire connector and 2 small evap hoses. maybe near strut tower/firewall? I saw some folks mention it could be near the alternator? sorry, that's all I got from quick search.

  2. Does the "metallic sounding rattle" have any cyclical nature to it like it's something spinning or it's of random frequency or random vibration? Heat shields are the most likely. Usually due to damage from striking something, or rust. That's been said multiple times but you haven't commented on those. They're ubiquitous - I'd guess 50%+ of the 10 year or older vehicles around here have had loose heat shield noises. There's more rust here but it can also be caused by striking debris, etc. checking the aftermraket installed lightbar is a good thought.

  3. I think your car should have a purge valve. Look it up on Subaru website or ebay or image search. It'll be on the intake manifold or possibly the evap canister.

  4. Sump in and a few mods to it. Fixed starting problem, injector not spaying correctly, next wheel alignment then a drive.

  5. Update Good news and thanks to everyone that contributed info. Started checking thing over as above ecu temp sensor changed to a spear we had, which tested good. next to injectors Took them out and mounted in a spear rail I have lying around and run a hose in one end and blocked the other and put fuel/brake cleaner mix in and put my vac blow pump on the end. pumped up tp 40 psi hooked power up. Lets say they didn't spray the best, run it through a few times and thing started to look allot better. Did all 4 then chucked them in. A few cranks later she sprung into life. Wheel alignment next. Thanks everyone, doc

  7. Yeah the lesson I have learned from this is that I should have just started with a puller. I tried heat, hammers and penetrating fluid. Bought a puller set for 27 bucks and should be here by the weekend. Thanks all for the input.

  8. Why are you not using a steering wheel puller? I don't think I've ever seen a steering wheel that didn't have holes already drilled and tapped exactly for that reason. It's way better than damaging the shaft with hammering, heating or possibly cracking the grip plastic covering by forcing it back and forth like a cavemen during the process.

  9. I always have to use a centre pull device to get my steering wheel off. You’ll find a threaded hole one either side of the steering shaft in parallel. I used these and it worked well. I remember one time, probably the first time, putting loaded of tension on the centre pull and leaving it overnight. It popped off overnight. Hope that helps. Cheers Bennie
