  1. Yeah I just have to see what kind of hurdles I have to jump now with the DMV here. My insurance company hasn’t said boo. The DMV hasn’t said boo. But the other party’s insurance who paid me off well and totaled the car on value - they sent me some letter I have to run by my attorney. I’m a little confused. It looks like I may have a simple option but then again - it’s a confusing and I have an attorney for this mess anyways. So , what they told me on the phone back when was that due to its age here in CT they were letting me run the car regardless. But told me that if I sold the car the next owner would need a full inspection. Rear ended , still coming along but I’ll be fine. Chiropratic seems to help. Therapy, keep stretching , that stuff. But more importantly the car is ok too. Doesn’t look perfect but it’s completely operational. Same as the driver. So reluctant to drive newer cars. And my wife could care less too. Old stuff we can fix. And like Rick GD says these new cars aren’t worth owning. I think we’ll put my wife in a leased car soon with the maximum insurance so you don’t get screwed three days out of the showroom etc etc. Ok you got a little rant here. Cheers

  3. Looking pretty straight forward now. $27 used alternator from a family owned yard up in the valley. Maybe spent $10 in gas too but well worth the drive. Fusible link looked fine. Fuses also. And now the shifter seems as it should although that lock out switch can be sticky. Drive on !

  4. That doesn’t work on 2005+ legacy and outback’s due to changes in the ECU.

  5. Hopefully you're all set - great if you are with under $50 in expenses! In the Naugatuck valley? I had a 92 Legacy years ago. One of my sons bought my mom's 94. Those were great cars, partly due to them having the 2.2L.

  6. It kinda sounds.like bad CV joints. The inners won't click on tightt turns like the outters do, but they will cause a bad vibration under load. If it is slowly leaking grease, it may be bad. They don't usually get worse as things warm up though. Parts store CV axles suck though so this can be an expensive repair with Subaru parts.

  7. No, smooth limp mode mainly points to electrical. Well you ruled out most mechanical issues. So fuel pump, injectors, spark, are in good shape. It doesn't rule out vacuum leaks though, in limp mode the car runs super rich and masks any leaks. It's mainly sensor and electrical issues now. It's not exactly the maf though. Unplugging the maf forces the ecu into limp mode, it ignores most sensors at this point. If you really want to make sure, you'd need to throw your maf into another car or borrow one from a working car.

  8. Stomping on gas and taking off from a parking spot sounds like drive shaft, U joint. Any play? Subies are robust but not meant for Dukes of Hazzard jumps.

  9. Thanks , yeah I sure was going to check all the fuses and fusible links etc In fact that happened when I swapped in this crapola aftermarket alternator... Now somebody direct me to the Spare Time Department so I can buy some.
