  1. I replaced one, once. It was a Sachs, quality name, not sure where I got it. It fit fine. The first time I opened the hatch fast, at -20 deg. C, it blew stuff all over, and didn't work anymore. Good thing I still had the custom-cut bit of 1x2 oak still in the back of the car!

  2. for the control unit... https://www.car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi car-part is not that difficult, really.. chose year, model, the part you are looking for (sometimes need to get creative, or chose something related) chose sort settings and area, click 'search' - it may ask for more info on the next screen, select the appropriate option, search again.. then go thru the listings.. if the exact part you are looking for - in this case, the actuator - is not listed.. use something related, like the control unit, then contact listed yards and ask about the actuator.

  3. The pitch stop rod is a Must! You will break both motor mounts quickly with out it. Then the engine will open your hood for you

  4. No, I'm a woman who enjoys spending time wrenching and driving, not retiring a vehicle due to lack of parts. I'll see if one of the drift Miatas around here can compare to the Brat for hardware. If a custom mount is all that would be needed to unlock more suspension parts that wouldn't be so bad. The new Brat bushings from DRW Poly Bushings are fantastic. I don't have the full set in yet but the couple I've done so far are so much better than the "fruit leather" consistency of the current ones.

  5. Got the tank back last week and it’s a bit more weighted now with this coating. Looks sturdy and bulletproof. They leave a black coating externally which I’m just going to leave alone. One of these days I’ll get around to posting pics.

  6. I'm an Amsoil dealer and use Amsoil exclusively on all oil changes. 5w40 is a Euro blend (neither the car nor the oil are allowed to know this), and 5w50 is a signature blend. 15w50 is a Dominator racing oil. Yes it's expensive. No I don't care and don't offer a "cheap" option. I would rather not do a ton of oil changes and I'm not into loss leader marketing. You want your oil changed by us because you want the best and a real mechanic to do it and do the included inspection. If that's not of interest to you then you likely wouldn't make a good customer which is fine - I'm also that guy that doesn't make a good customer for my business. If I can do it myself I'm going to obviously. GD
