  1. I generally replace the flywheel at the same time but it's just a matter of saving time. If I have a flywheel ready to go, I don't lose a day sending it out to have it turned. Plus there are no nasty surprises which will delay the repair which a bad flywheel will do. It also has the added advantage of replacing the mainseal at the same time if it's needed. If the old flywheel is good, I can have it turned for the next time I do a clutch.
  2. All systems are go for this weekend. Here's the skinny: YES, the rallycross is happening saturday, registration begins at 8:00am, first car out at 9:30ish. We may have to modify the course some if it rains like crazy, but the weatherman says not a lot of rain!!! we will also be getting together after the rallycross for refreshments in the meeting room. We are at the STRADDLELINE - ORV Park in McCleary (Highway 8, halfway between shelton and elma!!). Let me know if you need more info. Thanks, Kim
  3. Here are the parts and p/n's needed for the mounting brackets and surrounds for the foglamps for the '97 to '99 Impreza: Right side bracket 57790FA220 Left side bracket 57790FA230 Right Surround H4517FA023 Left Surround H4517FA024 By the way, I found a Left side surround at the wrecking yard which I don't need since I bought new. $10 plus shipping will take it away.
  4. Which car do you have and which foglights? Replacing the bulbs is different for the two versions of foglights on the early models of Impreza. If they are stock and not aftermarket foglights, you have to remove them from the bumper bracket to be able to get to the back of the housing, remove the back cover, and then get to the bulbs for replacement.
  5. From the ORG Times: "In other national news Oregon Rally Group's RallyCross program was named the Gold Standard by the Sports Car Club of America, receiving the trophy for best RallyCross program in the country. Congratulations go out to ORG RallyCross Director April Smith and her committee for this prestigious award." Having run all of last year's events but one, I can only agree that this recognition is well deserved. My hat's off to April and the entire group who worked so hard putting up a fine series.
  6. Latest information on the event can be found at: http://pacificrallygroup.com/RCI031707.html
  7. Information about classes and rules can be found at: http://www.scca.com/_FileLibrary/File/2007rxRules.pdf

  9. Here's the link; I bought them in the 14" size.http://www.silverstone.com.my/tyre_s525m_spec.asp
  10. Trust me, I will be putting the hurt on the field too. I picked up my new tires today!
  11. As said before, the AAA Plus plan is the one to get; they'll tow 100 miles before charging extra. I have towing on my comphrehensive insurance which is good for 10 miles. For a short distance tow I use my insurance policy; anything else gets AAA.
  12. Be careful what you wish for. Apparently another Pineapple Express system is heading for the NW!
  13. Glad to hear you made it home okay Connie. Best of luck with the repairs. AAA is the real deal. I've had it for years and wouldn't be without it. I first bought it years ago when I was on the road a lot and I didn't want my wife to have to deal with getting the car home safely. Since then I've discovered it's useful for me and my three sons. It's worth every penny of the annual fee.
  14. You won't need your waders, but expect it to be pretty soft. We were driving around last weekend and the ground was pretty saturated then and it's rained 4 days out of 5 since then.
  15. Oh, that's ugly; you'll miss two events both PRG and ORG.
  16. Thanks for the thought, but I'm never patient enough to do that job properly. I've already ordered the parts I need from Jason. I should have them installed by April 1st.
  17. Sounds high to me. Four hours labor at the going shop rate plus a reasonable cost for the parts should be around $700; $75/hr.= $300 labor plus $100 (or less) per strut=$400.
  18. Drop me a PM is you're truly interested in the surrounds for the foglamps. Jason at 1stsubaruparts.com can get them for you (call Mike Scarf Subaru and ask for Jason in parts).
  19. First event of the 2007 season for ORG. Hillsboro, OR 3/25/2007. Details to follow as I get them.
  20. PRG rallycross on 3/17 at the Staddleline ORV Park. More details to follow as soon as I have them.
  21. Looks open to me also. However, the other test is to turn the input shaft and if both output shaft turn the same direction, it might not be an open diff. Perhaps VLSD?
  22. I may have found a source for the surrounds; apparently they are still available from Subaru; a bit pricey, but available. I'll post the information as soon as I have the details.
