  1. XT automatic full time AWD model (EA18) with rear disks '83 Turbo sedan, 4WD automatic; turbo unit still on car. Early model white Legacy sedan.
  2. This is off the wall, but any possibility that they gave you the wrong key? Usually, putting pressure on the wheel in one direction and then the other is enough to free up the ignition lock and allow the key to be turned.
  3. Anyone know FlyB0y well enought to know his real name or 'phone number. I know he lives in Hamilton, MT and I'm trying to reach him before I leave for there on Monday. It looks like his computer has dropped out again since he hasn't been on the Board for a while. Drop me a PM with any information you might have. Thanks.
  4. Looks like you guys will have great weather! Not a cloud in the sky up here. Have a great time!
  5. Here's another update for workers on WW: 2006 Wild West rally plan B Simpson/Green Diamond has pulled the road use permit for the rally. The first notification of this decision came Monday and as you can imagine, the committee has been scrambling to find alternative roads while our appeal was pending, with unfortunately no success. We don't yet know if our 11th hour appeal to the President of the company will succeed. This message is being sent with the assumption that our appeal will not be successful. I will send a e-mail to all if we get the roads. If so go to your originally assigned Rendezvous point. If you do not receive such notice or if you were not already assigned to a stage captain/rendezvous, meet at the ORV at 7:30 AM. You can be deployed to the woods from there in the events the woods are available. Unless you hear differently, we will be implementing the following Plan B. Friday events will proceed as scheduled. The press stage will be held on Rick Schmelling’s property located on SE Ellis Rd.(directions below). Saturday, all stages will be at the ORV park. All workers will be admitted to the park for free, but are encouraged to bring a toy for “Toys for Tots” who will be collecting toys at the Park. Workers may enter the park and sign the waivers and get your wristbands and T-shirts beginning at 07:30 AM. Enter through the service crew gate. Sunday, all stages will be at the Pacific Raceways in Kent. The schedule of events for Sunday will be announced Saturday at the ORV park. Directions: Press stage: From Olympia take exit 105 from I-5 west toward Aberdeen/Ocean Beaches. In 6 miles, bear right onto Hwy 101 N toward Shelton. Turn right (east) from Hwy 101 onto Lynch Rd at Taylor Towne (approximately 1 mile N of the Hwy 108/Casino exit). Drive 2.7 miles and turn left onto Cole Rd. In 0.7 miles turn right onto SE Ellis Rd. In approximately 0.3 miles turn left through a big yellow gate. Straddle-line ORV Park: From Olympia take exit 105 from I-5 west toward Aberdeen/Ocean Beaches. In approximately 15 miles (about 1 mile west of MP 12 (numbers count down)) turn left into the park. Workers enter through the Service crew gate. Pacific Raceways: Take Exit 142 A from I-5 in Federal Way onto Hwy 18. In about 10 miles follow the signs to Pacific Raceway. Originally posted by John Nispel -Erik Lyden
  6. This might be bad news: http://www.specialstage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24932
  7. Absolutely gorgeous Brat. My favorite color too. My advice before it's too late, get a professional appraisal done and get it insured for replacement value ($10K is not excessive IMHO). Go to one of the companies that insures classic cars for full value; your insurance company would likely limit its value around $3K (if you are lucky). Best of luck with whatever you do with it; it is certainly one of a kind.
  8. Sorry, I have to bow out; I need to go to a funeral (not in my family, but someone we know well enough to go).
  9. REI Lynnwood seems to have them but I don't know how many. I picked up three there today. Be careful since they try to make money by selling you a map of the area. Nice to have but not necessary.
  10. Check ebay and see what Brats are going for these days. So far the highest sold price I've seen has been $7300. Yours could be worth more on ebay; not likely to get that price here; if it's blue, ask for bratsrus1 and what he thinks it's worth. I found this in our ebay/CL forum. $8K starting bid, but no bidders as yet; sounds like the wrong way to go about selling it.
  11. Either the National Forest office in Enumclaw or the REI in Lynnwood. According to the Seattle REI (which doesn't have them) the Bellingham REI carries them, but I'd call first. Tree permits are $10 each.
  12. Thanks Corky. I knew you would have some input. I was going to call you last night but it was too late for that.
  13. Anyone know what the normal rear end ratio for a '97 Impreza wagon with manual transmission is? Also, was a VLSD or LSD an option on the '97 model? Thanks to anyone who can point me to the right documentation.
  14. Does anyone have his 'phone number? I'm looking to get in touch with him before he returns home this weekend; I have an XT6 hood for him. PM me with a 'phone number for him if you have it. Thanks.
  15. If it doesn't have a weber yet it could certainly use it. The difference in low-end torque and driveability is significant.
  16. I was wondering about the six run series when one paid for either 4 runs or 7 runs. Sounds like you might be ready for some engine modifications.
  17. The 5 speed '93s are pretty rare; I'd jump on it; see my other comments in the thread I posted. Check out the scores for the 2006 rallycross season; I finished 6th for the year running against mostly EJ22 and EJ25 cars in the PA (prepared all wheel drive) class. Car doesn't have problems keeping up; not doing better is all my fault. http://www.oregonrally.com/files/RX_Points_2006_Final.pdf Indidual times for each event can be found under rallycross results at http://www.oregonrally.com/rallycross.cfm
  18. I've got an '94 Impreza with the EJ18 engine. Rock solid and likely less to be prone to head gasket problems due to the smaller bore. I have 130K on mine and the only difference compared to my EJ22 cars is slightly less low end torque but it's an engine which revs up much more quickly. Once you're in the higher rpm range, the car can really move; I have trouble keeping it from hitting the rev limiter at 6000 when I'm really on it during rallycross runs. The "slow" feeling you have might be due to your tires/wheels. I got mine with 16" low profile tires and it was a "stone"; it didn't get much faster with 15" tires. With the stock 14" tires and rims the car changes personality completely. I also get 20 to 30% better gas mileage with the EJ18 over the EJ22. All EJ18 and EJ22 engines up to and including 1996 manufacture are non-interference. 1997 and later are interference engines.
  19. If you have the alloys, you'll find the lug holes don't have a steel insert. Using "normal" lugnuts can wear out the holes causing the wheels to mount wobbly with age. Steel wheels shouldn't be a problem. The pug lugnuts are two piece and the threaded portion can tighten down on the contact portion without wearing out the hole un-necessarily.
  20. Can I ask a favor? Since rally is usually the total of all stage times, could you have another column for total times for 4 best runs? Thanks.
