  1. Older EA81 and EA82 all used 36mm castle nut; EJ22 are all 32mm if I remember correctly. 3/16" is the correct size for the drift to knock out the pin; knock the pin out from the non-bevelled hole and in from the bevelled hole; when you re-install remember that there are 23 splines so line up the splines properly---if you are 1/2 revolution off, the holes in the DOJ and stub axle won't line up and you'll jam the roll pin trying.
  2. Don't tell anybody, but it you can get any more of those sockets at that price, I'll buy it!! I think the SnapOn version was 34 bucks.
  3. It's a Snap-on tool for $34US or thereabouts. Dr. RX might have a part number for it.
  4. An if you buy a PCV valve, get an OEM one from the dealer; after-market valves seem to be a problem.
  5. Napa isn't the only one with NGK plugs. B&B and G.I. Joe's carry NGK's. Denso's should be okay for a while but next time get NGK's.
  6. Go to any emissions place and give them the License plate number and $5 and they'll print out the last emissions test that was done for you. If more than two years ago don't waste your time/money and take it to the emissions guru located next to the emissions place on 6th Ave. S; he'll check it for you and if it's okay he usually doesn't charge anything; if it's not, he charges $40 plus tax to get it passed. If he can't get it to pass he'll usually tell you what your car needs. By the way, your car DOES have a PCV valve. Also, replace the air filter while you're at it; it's probably dirty if it hasn't been done in a long time.
  7. Diff stubs are held in place with an E10 type bolt; you need a special thin wall socket to install and/or remove it. Odd it should just come loose and fall out; they're usually a bear to remove.
  8. Columbia County Fairgrounds (from ORG yahoo Board): This is Cara Holem, I am in a community 101 class which helps out the community by giving to non-profit organzations by raising money. One of our fundraisers is a Car Show at the Columbia County Fairgrounds. I would like to know if anyone is intrested in bringing out their rally cars or other cars. It would be at the end of next month and the money raised will go to a middle school drug and alcohol education program. To enter the car show will be $15.00 and it goes to a good cause! There will also be food and entertainment. If we can get enough rally cars, we will be in our own class. There will also be awards handed out. Anyone who is intrested let me know! Cara Holem
  9. What did he do to tick them off? I've never seen anyone rejected for a mechanical or electrical problem that wasn't related to emissions. This is too weird; and why should he wait until the 27th; just take it in tomorrow (or is he out of state?).
  10. What is it about the 9/24 date? Everything is happening on this weekend it seems. 9/24 9am to 4pm King County Fairgrounds $5 admission; 12 and under free Enumclaw, WA Janet at 253-536-8381 for more info www.whiteknuckle4x4.org
  11. More pics from RoundtheBend. http://www.roundthebendmotorsports.com/2006/rc090906/index.htm
  12. Actually, they aren't to see by; they're meant to melt the snow before you get there. Good luck with them.

  14. The track is waiting. There's another one next weekend in Hillsboro, OR and one the following weekend at the ORV park (just a quick 90 minute ride at that hour of the morning). The ORV park is a bit small for my liking, but it's close, has amenities, food, and 5 runs on a typical day. What's not to like?
  15. A nice shot of GLCraigGT in his wagon. More pics at http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=916
  16. Fun event. More cars than last month; if you didn't make it you missed out. The event ran on time and scores were posted tonight at http://www.pacificrallygroup.com/RC090906.html. My only complaint is that the course was too short (common complaint of mine.....I'd like them all to be longer:) ). Anyway, I had a great time.
  17. Received this from Paul Eklund at Primitive Racing today: Here are a few things going on (FYI). trying to keep my former students informed on upcoming rallies..... Sunday Sept 17th, ORG event at WA County Fairgrounds www.oregonrally.com Sunday Sept 24th Primitive Rallycross event at Washington County Fairplex in Hillsboro. 18. Looks like the original was not properly cut. Glad it was resolved for you and thanks for posting a resolution. By the way, the locksmith I go to swears by Tri-flow lubricant rather than the graphite.
  19. Here's one for you locals around Olympia so you don't have to drive to Oregon for an event. Fun to run, sometimes fun to watch. Great way to avoid cutting the grass on Saturday! Schedule: - Tech Inspection and Registration: 8am-9am - Driver's Meeting: 9:15am - First Car Out: 9:30am Cost: $30 for all entrants (includes admission to the ORV park) After tech inspection, please go to registration to obtain your timecard. There is only one session scheduled for this event. Worker positions will be assigned at the driver's meeting and the entire group will be split into run/work groups at that time. After the parade lap, those working first will go to their worker assignments. Those running first will put their cars into the grid to prepare for their first run. Helmets are required (Snell 95 and newer rating). Loaner helmets will be available at the event but in limited supply. If you're unsure about what class your car will run in, please read the Rally Cross rules. Spectators: The ORV park charges $10 per car for anyone entering the park. If you're interested in spectating, try to carpool to minimize costs. If you know someone competing, ride along with them. There is a concession stand on-site, so please bring cash for lunch.
  20. The one time this happened to me with my EA82 wagon, it took the AAA guy over an hour to give up and call in and ask for how. Turns out the Sube wagons couldn't be opened with a slimjim on the front doors; the trick is to use the slimjim on the rear door; he had it open 5 minutes later. My solution: I wear a true keychain around my neck at all times with spare keys for all our cars. Since I started that, I've never locked myself out of my car.
  21. Wow, that's steep; went to Eastside Subaru in Bellevue and had it done for $6!

  23. That's the page! Maybe we should put it in the USRM for further reference. Thanks Turbone.
  24. Somehow I remember that ALL turbos had the 25 spline DOJ, automatics too. I don't recall that the CVJ was different. The different axles can be identified by one, two, or three raised rings on the shaft nearer the CVJ; unfortunately I can't tell from the pic in the ebay listing since it's too small. Anyone with an '85 or later FSM that can look this up for us? I know I've interchanged 2WD and 4WD axles on my Brat without problems and I suspect the same would hold for the EA82 cars.
