  1. Finally posted today: http://www.oregonrally.com/content/results/rallyx/RX_Aug_05.pdf
  2. Sorry, the back seats of both hatches currently in the yard are completely unusable.
  3. Turn slowly and release pressure by opening the bleeder screw on the caliper. There's a check valve in the master cylinder that doesn't allow for back-flow from the caliper.
  4. Let me check on it and see if it is still in excellent condition. ---ed---
  5. I have two front fenders; the wrong color of course, but perfectly clean. I would donate these to the cause....either to use or trade for ones of the correct color. PM me for a 'phone number if you plan to go this route.
  6. I wouldn't think it needs a front clip and fenders, hood, bumper, and radiator are all bolt on items. Front radiator support can likely be hammered out. Is that LSD on this car? If so, don't let the diff go. Lots of parts at local Pull a Part yard but I didn't see any in your color. Check out craigslist and see if it would be easier/better to replace or repair. Good luck with it. PS: Good time to upgrade to an older Legacy or Impreza wagon.
  7. Pat, it's about time. You certainly gave the previous owner ample time to claim it. Good on you!
  8. And no, I don't know why the turbo Legacy was in the yard. Besides the turbo was long gone.
  9. Typical price is $150 plus tax and that's what I paid for the EA81 Corky and I pulled two weeks ago. I was surprised they didn't ding me for the carb, manifold, disty and everything else on the engine, but I wasn't complaining. It might have had something to do with the fact that the computer was down and the cash registers weren't up. --ed--
  10. Found a '92 legacy turbo wagon in the yard today. Turbo is gone already; has automatic tranny and 3.900 diff; hood scoop is gone. Struts still there (not air suspension). '85 Turbo sedan; turbo gone; rear disks gone (I got them). Nice 2WD hatch ('85); automatic tranny gone and engine is just waiting for someone to take it out (loose); car only has 113K on the odometer!! Axles are still there and they look fine. Dark blue color and pretty clean body for the most part.
  11. Did he change both filters (the one on the fuel pump and the other in the engine compartment). If he ran out of gas, he probably sucked all the crap out of the bottem of the tank and clogged a filter. Not sure that a EA82 pump will work properly. Does he have spark? If not, I'd suspect the igniter module in the distributor.
  12. Sorry, I looked into replacing the bearings in the tensioner. This is not easily done unless you have access to a machine shop. Pressing bearings off and on is easy, except the inner shaft of the tensioner is peened over the inner race. Only way to retain the bearing after removing the old bearing is to drill and tap the shaft and bolt the new bearing in (and pray the bolt never comes loose). Been there and tried it and found it's not worth the effort and cost.
  13. Cool, unless moosens is hiding a newer model somewhere, I think the '82 GLF is the latest manufactured car in his collection. Welcome to the EA81 world, Paul.
  14. Stolen car?? http://seattle.craigslist.org/car/96108781.html
  15. Any chance that your car was in an accident and the front crossmember isn't straight any longer? There should be no mechanical pressure on the rad to cause that type of failure. I'd try the radiator cap also and don't overfill with coolent.
  16. How many hubs do you want? Local yards here are full of them and I'd check the splines before I sent you a hub. No reason to buy new when a used one will do; they don't wear out unless the castle nut loosens up. If you really want a new hub, try www.1stsubaruparts.com.
  17. Gee, I was hoping to sell you one out of my collection. They always go bad, so when I find a good one, I buy it. $5 plus shipping is what I'd charge anyway. Good score.
  18. Locate near Sequim...in the rain shadow and supposedly lots of sunshine; also has an airport.
  19. I certainly wouldn't run it without a protecting plate under the diff. It would not survice the Hillsboro course very long; definitely would have a problem at the Brooklyn course.
  20. Did you change the fuel filter at the fuel pump in addition to the one in the engine compartment?
  21. Only reason to replace the water pump is to avoid the cost of labor in doing it later. My rule of thumb on the EA82s has been to do the timing belts every 60K miles and the water pump every other timing belt change since the water pump is not likely to last 180K miles. Definitely change the tensioners too. While I'm at it, I definitely recommend www.1stsubaruparts.com; best prices around for genuine Subaru parts. Easier to call their 800# and ask for Jason in parts rather than negotiating the website. Good luck with the repairs.
  22. Sensor for the dash guage is mounted on the rear of the intake manifold just to the left (passenger side) side of the carb; generally 2 pins in a "T" but could be one pin. The switch mounted on the side of the radiator is to turn the fan on and off by grounding it; only one pin on that one, but sometimes two. You can easily check for fan operation by taking the connector off the switch and touching it to a good ground with the ignition on. If the fan starts everything is okay but you might have a bad switch. When I said, might, it's because the grounding of the radiator might be defective. Look for a small wire (about 6 inches long or less) that grounds the radiator to the body of the car--this wire is located at the top of the radiator about 4 inches from the passenger side of the radiator. It's usually missing which causes the fan to not come on properly. If all else fails, run a ground wire from inside the car through a toggle switch and turn the switch on when the temp guage goes above half way. Good luck.
