  1. Oh, I don't know about that; I was called that before I knew what it meant. I have mellowed with age however--founding member of MCA (sort of like AA, but you can still drink:grin: .
  2. Looking at the missing console....I've got the rare slanted console available for you; it's the right color too. You can mount a standard DIN radio into the Brat with that. PS: I still have that water pump if you need it too.
  3. Pat, I'm glad the deal finally paid off; perseverance pays off again. Best of luck with it. What color is it?
  4. The '82 Brat's tail-lights are unique to that year only; and to Brat models only. Sorry. Yes there are black brats around; altho I'm not sure they came out in '82; '84 for sure. Interior and seats are same as the Hatch or wagon of the early '80's. Headlights are unique to '82 and '83 but 7" rectangular are not hard to find; '84 got the quad headlights. Rear bumpers are unique to brats. Some early front bumpers will fit your '82 providing the have the correct brackets and not the pneumatic type. Doors and front fenders match the Hatch model; fenders also match the wagons but antenna is mounted on the other side.
  5. Unless you have a DL brat; dash will interchange, not sure of the instrument cluster.
  6. I've never quite understood why, but the HC test for emissions doesn't see oil. Take if from someone who had a car that was burning a quart every 250 miles and passed! Lesbaru, you're in good hands with Smart Service. There's a low cost option in south Seattle that you can try, but I suspect you have a mechanical problem like an O2 sensor.
  7. My son bought a EA81 from them for his Brat about 7 years ago; still running strong. CCR is a first class operation in all respects.
  8. That's odd; I spoke to Brian just a few weeks ago and he's still working there as of now. He says they've increased their workload of Subarus significantly with the new owner due to sensible advertising.
  9. I'm with everyone else, keep the Imp. Really clean up the Brat and put it on ebay if it doesn't sell on the USMB for a decent price. Ebay prices are just nuts lately. I might have a trailer for you if you need one; I'd lend it to you for the move but getting it back would be a hassle.
  10. Some interesting pics of the supercharger in the red Legacy.
  11. You might consider rebuilding your distributor; check out http://www.philbingroup.com.
  12. I just packed a 3.900 open diff (EA82) for shipping. Box is 23"x12"x11" and the total weight is 55 lbs.
  13. Hey, I'll be shipping one of these soon and will weigh it more accurately than with a bathroom scale.
  14. I just weighed one my home scale and it came out close to 70 lbs I think. Add packing box and packing and we are over the magic weight.
  15. Not a problem; you offered price not quick delivery. Thanks again for doing this. ---ed---
  16. Really weird, but I didn't recognize you. It must have been the lighting. I did okay in the rallycross but wasn't really happy with my times. I should have known it was you; it didn't occur to me until I remembered your car was red. It looked like your girlfriend was sleeping....long ride to Bellingham.
  17. Last evening I was returning from the Rallycross and just before reaching home (around 9:45pm) I passed a clean, red early GL wagon. I noticed it because it was clean AND because it had the "4" decal on the driver's door post commemorating Mark Lovell's passing last year. This was climbing the hill on I-405 just before my exit to Canyon Park. The driver noticed my Brat and sped up and turned on his interior light; sorry, mine doesn't work so I couldn't return the greeting. So if you are the fellow Subaru person who's also involved in rally, I was hoping to know who I was passing last night. We obviously have something in common.
  18. Fairly successful weekend for the local USMB crew: Unofficially, XSNRG took first in PGT: Lite truck was swept by the 3 brats of 84soob (1st), Jamie (qman's daughter) (2nd), and edrach in third; qman and zap took 2nd and 3rd in Open in Ken's newly finished XT6 powerhouse. That's all I know right now. Weather was as predicted--on and off showers with a virtual monsoon just before the start of the Open class run in the afternoon.
  19. I think some of the advantage might be the ability to mount a rear swaybar while taking the parts needed off a turbo EA82 wagon.
  20. Sorry to hi-jack this, but reminds me of my first Subaru (back when I lived in Delaware). It was a Standard model...a no frills hatch which was my daily commuter. The stars emblem on the dash inside the car (bought new) with the word Subaru was mounted upside-down. So much for Japonese workmanship; I thought it was pretty funny at the time.
  21. Drop me an email at edrach@spamcop.net with the header SWAP MEET in the subject line if you want a spot in the building. I'll check with qman and see how many spots are available; first come first serve. Commercial spots are available also for a small fee.
  22. Sounds like they won't need the water truck this time around.
