Best All-Round Tires for EA82
edrach replied to 85Sub4WD's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nokian WR (an all season tire) 185/70-13 works for me in all conditions. -
Go north on I-5 until you go thru Mt. Vernon and then take SR20 westbound and that will put you on the highway heading for where the thumbnail is centered. You can ask local info if you can't find it from there. It's not too many miles off of I-5; if you miss it you'll wind up in the Pacific Ocean!

Try www.cvaxles.com for info. For exact oem part number try www.1stsubaruparts.com.

A white EA81 wagon showed up yesterday. Someone had certainly modified it altho I didn't examine it carefully. It had those hood hold down studs (you know the type the protrude thru the hood and had a ring thru them to keep the hood down) and a set or really gnarly snow tires with lots of tread left on them. It would be worth it for a cheap set of off road tires. Sorry it had an open diff.

I'd try ccrinc in Denver; I believe they rebuild the Hitachi's. -
Almost any seats that are actually not too large would fit. What you need is to save the seat rails off your old seats (or get another set from a wrecking yard) and a friend who knows how to weld. Take out one old seat and mount the seat rails in their place. Bolt a metal plate to the new seat and place it on the seat rails. Tack weld it onto the rails and then remove the seat and rails and continue to weld until you're sure the seat won't come off the rails. Repeat this exercise with the other seat and you're good to go. It sounds simple and a little more creativity might be required but it can be done.

Most Sube webers are the DGV model; weber also makes a DFV (if I remember correctly) which is a mirror image of the DGV so the throttle cable can be mounted on the right of the carb instead of the left. The DFV is nice in a car equipped with power steering since the PS reservoir gets in the way of the electric choke of the DGV. Try www.carbsunlimited.com for throttle linkage pieces. They should be able to help you get the parts you need.

Combination city/highway driving and I average around 22mpg. I used to get 26mpg and I suspect my O2 sensor is the most likely culprit. I have a '91 Legacy wagon with manual transmission and 138K miles on the odo. I have spare used headlamps that don't leak, but they are for the early Legacies and not yours. Sorry. As for bad gas, I've learned not to buy any of the cheap gas...Arco, Tesoro, whatever...since it makes my car knock noticeably. I stick with the regular grade of Unocal 76 or Shell since that's most available in this area.

Yes it's just north of McChord. I think the 512 exit off I-5 northbound (#127?) is the one to take; get off at the next exit for Steele St.; Left at the traffic light; Right at the next traffic light;and then left into PAP. 253-588-1775. They don't seem as friendly as the folks up north, but that's probably because they don't see me as often.

Not just a matter of unfortunate timing. Not all of us have Brats, much less an '87; or the shop manual that comes with it. As to your original question, running 12v power directly to the choke terminal and watching to see if the choke opens properly would be a good test. I'd have to dig a bit to see where the 12V power for the automatic choke originates; it might be as simple as a fuse; or as difficult as a faulty ignition switch or bad connector somewhere. Welcome to the Board and I hope you have better success in the future with your queries.....better yet I wish you have no problems with your Brat.
