  1. Celtic Bayou in Redmond is a fun place to eat. They even serve beer! http://www.farwestirelandbrewing.com/default.shtml
  2. Lots of fun at the rallyx. Met some new USMB folk. Harpua came in after his last run with the biggest SEG I've seen in a long time. Had a phenomenal time of 1:37 in his stock '87 GL wagon on his last run. He'll be back. Next event is in 3 weeks in Hillsboro, OR. Results will be posted here as soon as official results are out.
  3. Jerry, 2nd weekend in September sounds good to me. I'll confirm by telephone. ---Ed---
  4. I would guess the alternator is bad and not putting out enough current to charge the battery. In addition, the battery doesn't seem to take much charge and could also be bad. I'm with the previous poster--check the alternator output and battery.
  5. I will be heading there to have Jerry install some XT4 seats in my Brat, but it won't be until the 1st or 2nd weekend in September. I'd be glad to bring it back then.
  6. Kelly, do your emissions require a visual inspection? What I'm trying to say is, if it passes the sniffer test will they open the hood? If so, save yourself some grief and buy the Weber kit (new, not from me). I have almost everything disabled and the emissions on my car are fine. I'm going to run it through just to see what kind of numbers it will produce. For the expense you're liable to incur, you might as well spend it on a weber kit from Redline or http://www.carbs.net/.
  7. Many years ago, I lost a water pump on my '86 GL wagon just outside of Ritzville. I got towed to Spokane and on the suggestion of my regular shop in Lynnwood, had it taken to C&H Auto Repair, E. 620 North Foothills Dr., Spokane (509-487-9683). They were excellent. Arranged a rent a car for me (I was on the way to Missoula on business), repaired the car and had it ready for me on my return trip 3 days later. They even washed the car for me before letting me have it (no charge for the car wash). This car now has 100K miles since that repair and the water pump is still fine. The service was excellent and I'd reccomend them to anyone.
  8. You'll have to remind me what parts Andy left. Did he leave them here in Woodinville or at Pat and Jerry's (almost sounds like a brand of ice cream )? Anyway, this weekend is out since I'm leaving for the rallycross in Oregon this afternoon and won't be back until Sunday night. Drop me a private message or email and I'll get you a 'phone # and directions. I do plan to get out to Pat and Jerry's early in September, so if the parts are there I could bring them back to Woodinville.
  9. Managed to snag a room at the Vagabond Inn in Hood River, so I expect to arrive Saturday night and be able to get to the fairgrounds nice and early in the morning. Looking to have a great time.
  10. Sounds like a plan; if I can fit it in, I'll bring it with me.
  11. Looking forward to meeting you, Donny. I'll be in the blue Brat with the blue canopy; 'probably leaving it on for the event altho I might take it off. I'll be there for the morning run just to watch and get ready for the afternoon.
  12. I'm sure you can get a Haynes Weber manual (and possibly others) at the following site (Fife, WA if you're local): http://www.carbs.net/
  13. How much oil does your engine have in the engine compartment? Nothing does in an alternator like a thick covering of oil. Also, I've found the after market rebuilds are chancey at best. I have guy in Ballard who does a thorough rebuild. He's pricey and there's no lifetime warranty, but I keep going back to him whenever an alternator fails in one of my cars (doesn't mean repeat visits with the same alternator!).
  14. Here it is: http://archives.seattletimes.nwsource.com/cgi-bin/texis.cgi/web/vortex/display?c=1&slug=wreckyard20m&date=20030820&query=Pull+a+Part
  15. Took my Brat there since they used Castrol oil (not Jiffy Lube but another un-named chain) and I was overdue for my oil change and it was raining (I'm a wimp; I hate to change oil in the rain). Anyway, the technician (?????) came out to show me the gearoil on my transmission's dipstick and told me my transmission was toast! "Fluid is supposed to be red, not burned like this." I told him to put the dipstick back into my MANUAL transmission and if he even touches anything else on the car, he's in big trouble. Before I left, I checked the engine oil level myself along with the drain plug. Never went back there again.
  16. Brian, I've got some info on valve clatter: 6 jpgs and one Word document. Trouble is the jpgs are 250K each and I really don't know how to re-size them. I'd be glad to do it you can point the way. Thanks, ---Ed---
  17. Your digi-dash is notorious for faulty temp readings---both too high and too low. Best bet is to get an after market temp guage and install that.
  18. Andy, I think you'll be able to get an adapter cable for that car; all the power connections should work and you just need to re-wire the speaker wires.(Magnolia Hi-Fi, Car Toys, Fry's, and such should have it in stock). I'll pick up the cable you have for the Legacy at the Rallycross. If you're not going, can you get it to Jason or Mike? Thanks.
  19. Go to the link I posted in the first post. Then click on "more information" (near bottem). Then you'll have the option of rules and classes. Hopefully, that will answer most of your questions. You can run with a co-driver if you want; it's your option. Don't worry about "getting it right" the first time. I've found that every time I run I learn something new and continue to improve.
  20. Harpua, You would be running in Production class and allowed 4WD in that class but no other modifications or mud/snow tires. Your wagon would be competitive enough. Mike (Flowmastered87) has been running in Production and doing quite well. Even if you don't do well this is a fairly enjoyable day to play with your car. Power is not usually a plus since the course is generally slick enough that driver skill counts more than power. Heck, I just noted your location--you'll be closer to Hood River than I am! Go for it!
