  1. I'm planning of upgrading the radio in my '91 Legacy. Anyone know if the speaker wiring has the same common ground problem as on the earlier Loyale/GL series? I just want to know if I need to run new wires for the speakers. Thanks.
  2. Mac, thanks for the work on finding parts and prices. Link gives me a "page not found" message; maybe the site is down due to the current rash of MSBlast virus reports. I wonder if there should be a section of the Repair Manual to list really valuble parts information like this. I know I copied and pasted this into my "information" folder.
  3. Tom is right. So far no one has been able to rebuild the tensioners. Too bad since the bearings themselves are only $6 each. Most reputable shops will replace the tensioner every time they do a belt replacement. But I suspect the tensioner bearings could last for two replacement intervals (120K).
  4. Sounds like you have a couple of problems. The radiator cap should release at 13psi. If it doesn't you can build up enough pressure to blow a hose or radiator. Sounds like you already breached the radiator. Firstly, get a new radiator cap. Then investigate why this is happening. Starting with a cool engine, remove the radiator cap and start the car and fill with a 50/50 solution of water (distilled is best) and coolent. Keep topping off the coolent until you don't need to add any more. If you have a blown head gasket, coolent will gush out of the raditor and you won't be able to fill it properly. When the coolent is topped up (and assuming it's not gushing out), replace the radiator cap and test drive it. It's normal for the coolent to come out of the radiator through the cap and go into the overflow reservoir. After you shut the engine off and it cools, coolent is drawn back into the system. Judging from your other comments, I suspect you'll need to replace the radiator too.
  5. Skip, no the locksmith did not make me a new key. Somehow he got the cylinder out, cleaned it and re-installed it. Working fine ever since.
  6. What kind of grease and did you really squeeze the grease into the bearings? Also, how hot is hot?
  7. Skip, I don't have a fix but I might have a solution. I had the same problem with my '84 Brat. Fought with it for a while and was even tempted to go out and get a cylinder lock out of a wreck along with the door locks and replace all three. My last resort prior to getting new lock cylinders was to go to my local locksmith--not the hardware store keymaker but a REAL locksmith. It took him 15 minutes (and $30 of my money) and it's been good as gold ever since. I still don't know what he did and I watched him like a hawk, but I can't argue with success.
  8. Glad you're home. Ditto on the suggestions to getting your life together. I know you can do it; best of luck.
  9. I have a set of mounted Hakki's on wagon wheels. I used them last year until I got the silverstones. I'd consider selling them. Let me think about a price (or drop me an email or private message if you're really interested). They are quite good and very competitive. Just make sure you're allowed to use them in the class you plan to run in. I can bring them down to the rallycross on the 24th if you're not local to the Seattle area.
  10. Thanks to all who did such a superb job of the transition. Colors are great also. Quite easy to read and easy on the eyes.
