  1. Agreed. With luck I should have a set on my Impreza shortly. I'll post the pic of that when I have them mounted and on the car.
  2. Post away:). I'll post the RS wheels I'm looking to buy this weekend for the Impreza. I've been looking for some of these for years.
  3. I might as well add the new wheels we put on my wife's Forester last week. I finally found a set of 17" wheels for her car. The original 16s just didn't fill out the wheel well. Wheels came off a 2006 Legacy wagon.
  4. If you get lucky, you can score one at the local junkyard. Check out early Turbo GL wagons and RXs. Or find one here in the for sale forum. I have one which I may be selling in the future. Make sure you match the gear ratio. You have a 3.900 rear now and the LSD needs to match. Most of the turbo LSDs come with 3.700 ratio, but you can pull the LSD "chunk" out of the 3.700 unit and install it in a 3.900 "open" differential. Lots of write-ups on that. Good luck with your new Brat.
  5. Your jetting is probably alright since it idles/runs well once it's warmed up. Here's a link to Redline on setting up the idle and mixture. http://www.redlineweber.com/html/Tech/carburetor_set_up_and_lean_best_.htm If you hunt around in their tech section you might find how to set up the electric choke as well as the accelerator pump. The pump squirts an extra amount of gas into the throat if you tromp on the gas; you're either getting too much or too little of that.
  6. I've never been a fan of over-size tires but always felt that the stock 16" rims on the early Foresters left a bit too much empty space in the wheel well. Thanks to Dr.RX I got a set of 17" rims (OEM stock alloys on 2006 Legacy) along with a set of Goodyear LS2 tires in a 225/55-17 size. I think they look pretty good on my wife's daily driver. I was a bit concerned that the tires would rub on the struts (especially in the rear), but there's sufficient clearance. I like the setup, but what's more important is that my wife likes it.
  7. No, ORG is just late in updating their 'site. Got an email from Ron Sorem who does the NW calendar and it originated with Rebecca. I'm double whammied. I read this earlier this morning and was tickled since I can't make the 5/8 date. Found out when I checked my calendar, that I'll still miss it since I'm in New England that weekend.
  8. Well, I'm glad you clarified the age issue for me. I'm still saving up for a ride. I'll try to make it before I'm 71! On a more serious note, I'm looking forward to the July 9th rallycross. I can't wait.
  9. Date has been changed from 5/8 to 5/22. Check www.oregonrally.com for details.

  11. Registration is open for the 2011 No Alibi Rally http://www.rainierautosports.com/events/2011/noalibi/ A truly fine event with lots of gravel. A two day weekend get-a-way in eastern Washington for the TSD rally purist.
  12. Well, looks like I need to bring the mud tires again.
  13. Bummer. But if you can get ESPN3, it might be available to you. Announcer yesterday kept say they were streaming it live.
  14. Only 5 hours until the gates open. I can't wait!
  15. I'm with davebugs on buying a used rear portion from a junkyard. A pull a part yard is best since you'll learn how hard it is to remove that long bolt as well as deciding if the donor bearing is okay. In either event YIELD is your friend. Then, after replacing the whole assembly, you can decide whether replacing the bearing is worth your while to have a spare.
  16. 728boughtLimited quantity available The deal is on! Tipped at 7:17AM with 25 bought Wow, a clever move by DirtFish. With the late ticket sales, I thought this would be under attended. But at least 728 bought last minute tickets.
  17. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality wheel alignment done on my '97 Impreza before the last rallycross. Garth did a thorough quality alignment to my specific requests along with a toe adjustment ("rally drivers like this to help the car rotate easier") that certainly did help my car handle more to my liking. His price was more than reasonable considering the amount of time he spent on my car (PM me if you like more info). http://www.tracksideracetires.com/
  18. Bought mine for both days. Hopefully the gift I bought for Jeanne (Sat. only) goes through.
  19. Discount on tix for this: http://www.dirtyimpreza.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20818
  20. Another vote for richierich and Superior Import Repair. Two shops in Portland. www.fixmysuby.com

  22. That's okay; we were all learners at the beginning. I usually load them into a photo album (see the User CP) and then post one with a link to the album if anyone wants to see the rest. I'm certainly glad you and your wife are both okay. And Black Betty. This could have been really ugly.
  23. Originality doesn't matter. It's the thought that counts. I just happened to post before you did. It's not a common problem but I've had it happen twice to me over the last 15 years and it's very memorable; especially after changing the speedometer and having the problem come back after a couple of weeks. Fortunately, pull a part had plenty of spares at the time for real cheap.
  24. Firstly, try this speed/tire size calculator: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html . I suspect there shouldn't be much difference between the two tire sizes you have. By the way, your tires are wider; not necessarily larger diameter, at least not enough to make much of a difference. Usually the reason for a pretty large difference in speed reading like you have is that speedometer cable grease has migrated up the cable and into the speedometer head and causes the magnet to drag the speedo needle to a much higher speed than actual. Your odometer will still read correctly which will mis-lead you into thinking that the speedometer is correct and you're going faster than you really are. There's a seal in the transmission's cable drive which is supposed to keep the gear oil where it belongs; when the seal fails the gearoil migrates up the cable and causes this condition. Replacing the cable won't help since the oil/grease is already inside the speedometer head. Only correct fix is to replace the speedometer section, cable and install a new seal at the transmission to prevent that in the future. What to do? Hopefully, you have a tach in your instrument cluster. Have a friend follow you in another car and relay what speed you're actually travelling and write down the rpm and gear for the common speeds you normally travel at. Generate a table that tells you what speed you're actually travelling at what rpm in each gear. Speeds at the normal speed limits in each gear is usually all you need. Write the rpm for each speed on an index card and use that and your tach reading as a guide to how fast you're actually travelling. By the way, your LSD rear diff should sell for around $250 here on the Board. Please don't sell it to a Datsun fanatic who will offer you more. Please keep it in the Subaru family.
  25. I'm with you on the myspace, FB and twitter. I have no use for any of them either. I do like the idea of a raffle at WCSS13 with the funds going to the USMB. I'll be checking out stuff in my garage which is going to waste here that could be used in a raffle (not junk, only good working stuff). Maybe SOA could be persuaded to donate some NOS for the raffle.
