You should be okay going southbound; but you still need to get home after the event.

I got this from cfwdfw today since I travel this on a regular basis. But I thought it might impact competitors, service crews, and spectators travelling to and from Olympus via I-5 south of Olympia. Subject: Future Weekends in April Traffic Delays on I-5 FYI DOT: I-5 delays could reach 5 hours By JOHN FLICK KOMO-TV STAFF Anyone who dares take Interstate 5 near Lacey over the next several weekends could wind up sitting in their car for hours. A major construction project is about to start - and a big orange sign at the site says it all: "Major Traffic Impact Coming." In a worst-case scenario, motorists at certain times could be stuck up to five hours. Up to 150,000 drivers pass through the affected stretch of I-5 each day, but state Department of Transportation engineers say they can't delay the project any longer. The highway pavement is crumbling and needs reinforcing, says Project Engineer Neil Uhlme. Crews will cut slats in the existing concrete, put dowels in and then grout to seal that up. The work could create massive bottlenecks. The construction work will take place in Thurston County between Martin Way and Mounts Road. On the weekend of April 9, southbound traffic will be down to one lane from 7 p.m. Friday to 11 a.m. Saturday, then from 7 p.m. Saturday to noon on Sunday. The following weekend, northbound I-5 will be down to one lane at the same times on the same stretch of highway. But the "biggie" will come the weekend of April 23. On Friday night, one northbound lane will shut down. Then on Saturday all lanes headed north will shut down from 10 p.m. Saturday night to 10 a.m. Sunday. If people don't reroute, delays could reach five hours and the backup could extend as far as about 21 miles. The detour takes you off the highway and along Marvin Road through Lacey. And there is more construction to come along I-5. Visit the state DOT's Web site for a closer look at times and details.

Harbor Freight, cheaper and same lifetime replacement warranty as Craftsman.I'd add 11mm, 19mm and 21mm; 36mm if you have an older Subaru,

Please go to www.oregontrailrally.com and follow the links to the volunteer page, and log into the volunteer registration system, which is being run by Rally Data. The Oregon Trail cannot happen without the help of a dedicated group of volunteers. Volunteers get the best seat in the house. Thanks and we look forward to seeing you at this year's Oregon Trail Rally! From ORG: MAGIC WORDS.TRAVIS PASTRANA, KEN BLOCK, DAVE MIRRA, ANTIONE L'ESTAGE ... TO NAME A FEW OF THE DRIVERS THAT MAY BE COMPETING IN THE OLYMPUS RALLY IN APRIL IN WASHINGTON STATE. THIS IS ROUND 3 OF THE RALLY AMERICA NATIONAL RALLY SERIES. Not able to compete? Want the best seat in the house? Try volunteering, You might have some fun! NO experience, NO problem with most tasks, you'll be instructed and provided with any special equipment you may need. Although, if you happen to be a licensed amateur radio operator with mobile equipment, your skills and equipment would be greatly appreciated. And, you're in luck, because once again the Oregon Rally Group is assisting the Olympus Rally organizers with a stage crew of volunteers under the leadership of Gloria Hale, stage captain. You would think that after all these years that the fun would have worn off.well.. no, I still love messing around with anything related to the sport of rally. The Olympus Rally will be run on back roads, closed to the public, in the Grays Harbor area of Washington state. The ORG stage crew will need volunteers to take charge of two special stages on Saturday, April 24th, in an area above Tahola, WA, and two special stages on Sunday, April 25th, in an area west of Brooklyn, WA. Both days our stage crew rendezvous will be at reasonable hours, probably mid-morning. The positions available include timing controls for the starts and finishes of the stages, road marshals to watch side roads (right at action points on the rally course) and ham radio operators for starts and finishes and out o course at strategic points. INTERESTED? Contact me, Gloria Hale at any of the contacts listed below. Want to get out, close and personal with NW stage rallyists and racing excitement? Best way to watch and get into the action is to volunteer. No real experience needed, the organizers will show you everything you need to know. Check it out at http://www.olympusrally.com/volunteers/

I'll be darned you are correct. I can't believe I missed it. You did see the red Impreza coupe on the front cover and in the article....that's qman's car and Zap driving it.

Ignore the naysayers. Best of luck with the VW. We'd certainly welcome you back if you find a more suitable Subaru.

Look at the label on the bell housing of the transmission; it will say something like TY752-VABBA. Then go to the transmission chart in the USRM and look up your transmission. It will tell you whether yours is a 3.900 or 4.111. Then check the transmission chart to see what models/years have the same ratio so you know what to look for in a used transmission. Good luck. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=97885 You can also find the transmission number on the VIN# plate on the fender well in the engine compartment.

You won't find anyone nicer or more honest than Jerry.

I found the best d/r 5speed to be in the '88 GL (Loyale) wagons, but any of the ones from '85 to '89 will do. They're pretty bulletproof. Jerry helped me with the conversion on my '84 Brat almost 10 years ago. It's still running; a bit "crunchy" now when shifting but that's okay; I can live with it.
-
Welcome to the Board. Post your '84 GL in the forsale forum. Thanks for trying to keep it in use with someone who will want it instead of towing it to the junkyard.

Fred Myer carries GSM in their magazine section. This issue will hit the stands in about two weeks.

This is asked so many times that it should be in the USRM. I use a 3/16" tool to drive out the roll pins, Craftsman p/n 42885WF if you buy it at Sears. Knock the pin OUT from the non-bevelled hole side; knock the new pin IN from the bevelled hole side. If it doesn't go in and only 1/2 hole is visible, you're 180 degrees out of correct position. Pull the DOJ off and rotate it 1/2 turn and slide it back on the stub axle; the pin will now go in easily.

Single sealed beam to quad light wiring???
edrach replied to kybishop's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Good idea to add a relay as well as fusing the wiring you take off the battery. Use appropriate gauge wire for the lamps you are using. -
My '94 Impreza sedan had the battery relocated in the trunk inside a covered battery box by the previous owner. I think the PO used #4 gauge wire to bring the power forward. Only advantage was to even up the weight distribution of the car slightly. Certainly wasn't needed for more room for the EJ18 in front.

Which color fusible links do you need? I can probably find them at pull a part. Cheapest source.
