  1. Okay, I'm in. Now, someone get me decent directions to get there!
  2. For some reason, the fairgrounds people switched fields on ORG and relegated the event to a field only slightly larger than the ORV park in WA. Also, the grass was so tall it was hard to see the pointer cones which made for a challenge to the CRS afflicted among us. I was looking forward to the large field used last year and getting a long run out of it. As I said, ORG managed to pull off a fine event in spite of the smaller field, tall grass, and barely enough room to park and grid cars. I especially liked the printed labels with times that were handed out...a splendid idea that makes one wonder why it hasn't been done sooner. And promptly posted results have become a hallmark for ORG.
  3. I'd replace the waterpump if it's pretty old. If it's under 30K-40K I think you can get away with just a gasket.
  4. Just uploaded them into my laptop. We're spending a few days on the OR coast before returning home. Drop me an address and I'll send you a CD; I have about a 100 pics and it'll take me too long to re-size them and I can only post one at a time to the board once I do that. It'll be a while.
  5. Results at http://www.oregonrally.com/files/RX_8_17_2008.pdf
  6. Russ, if those turds at Les Schwab don't appreciate your skill and services, it was probably worth it. Karma will come and bite them in the butt (I knew there was a reason I didn't like them; you were the only reason I'd consider going there). Trust me, you're a talented individual and a BETTER job is out there waiting for you.
  7. I will have a pair for DL frames at WCSS10 which I never used on my '86 wagon. They'll be pretty cheap since I don't want to bring them home again.
  8. Zap, nothing personal, but isn't this link for Astoria (as is the first)?? See you there this weekend.
  9. How do you know it has the right amount of refrigerant? This is not something the average person can determine. Are we're talking about your '86 wagon here or your '96 OBW?
  10. That's really why I don't sell anything on ebay. Too many people out there looking for a reason NOT to buy something or inflate their ego. Sometimes it's better to say less about something than more.
  11. I love the excitement and anticipation. Here's hoping the weather holds up: http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=Astoria,%20OR&wuSelect=WEATHER
  12. If I remember correctly, the only difference is the rear backing plate.
  13. You're in luck. There's an independent Subaru shop at the corner of Prescott and 82nd (I think). Anyway, you can find them at www.fixmysuby.com. They're opening a second shop in the area but I don't know where that is yet. Great place to do business, especially for the earlier models. I live just north of Seattle, but try to arrange service on my Impreza whenever I'm in Portland on business. Tell them edrach sent you!
  14. A good solvent to use to remove adhesives is WD-40. Not sure if it works on the adhesive used for the headlamp protector, but works great on adhevise left behind from bumper stickers and similar plastics. Use the WD-40 to dissolve and remove the glue and then brake cleaner or something similar to remove the WD-40.
  15. Ditto to that. Applying a coat of wax after polishing will extend the time to 20+ days.
  16. I used Meguiar's #10 Clear Plastic Polish and only took 5 minutes with a soft, clean rag to get this result: I don't remember what I paid an 8 fluid ounce bottle of this stuff, but there's enough in the bottle to do 3 or 4 dozen headlamps!
  17. Some of the EA81 struts had height adjusters (not a torsion bar).
  18. Next ORG rallycross coming up shortly. Right after WCSS10 super get-together. Details can be found at http://www.oregonrally.com/rallycross.cfm[/url] Weather for the weekend can be found at: http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=Astoria,%20OR&wuSelect=WEATHER
  19. Mechanically the early EA82 and EA81 are the same; EA82 is 60Amp and EA81 is 55Amp. XT6 version will fit but I believe you'll have to change the pulley and it is a 90Amp.
  20. Mike, if you're there Thursday, stop by the RV. We should have a couple of beers in the fridge. (Hopefully, the RV will be out of the shop by then).
  21. "How to keep your Subaru alive" is certainly better than the Haynes or Chilton manuals (IMHO) and more entertaining too. However, you need to get the 2nd edition to get your '88 info. 1st edition only goes to '84. Bentley manual is a rewrite of the shop manual; sadly it only covers up to '84. But it's the best, even better than the shop manuals for those years. Factory service manuals are certainly the most useful for the "hardcore" among us, but they are pricey. All of these can be found on ebay now and then. Also try Amazon, you might get lucky. You'll pay more, but they'll likely have it in stock at www.books4cars.com ; they do mail order if you're not near Seattle.
  22. No! I've had a converted 3.700 LSD in my Brat for over 5 years and it's still no louder than an open 3.900 diff. Certainly not a clanking noise; sounds like bad news to me.
