waltee_d replied to waltee_d's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
Thanks guys! Guess if i want to go on vacation i ll have to walk to attractions! Dennis -
Hey Guys: Have a quick question about towing; I have 1997 Subee wagon, Legacy OUtback 4-wheel drive automatic. The question is; is it possible to tow this vehicle behind a camper with a tow bar, with all 4 wheels on the ground. I have 1992 all whee drive and the sticker under the hood says to put fuse in front wheel drive and not tow over 20 miles an hour. Is it the same for the 1997 or can I tow it? All help is appreciated. Thanks, Dennis

all you guys ( especially you glen) are great techs. took 12 volt test light hooked to ground and tested for voltage when i cranked it with no results then put wire on test light to pos. on battery and probed injector wires with 12 volt through tester heard click . did all 4 then cranked they must have been stuck. fired right up but smokes bad but the longer it ran the less the smoke .must been where it had been cranked so much with bad timing idler. like i said you guys are the best . hope i can help someone as well as you do. THANKS AGAIN DENNIS -

this evening 11-3 put idler off my now spare 2.2 that i purchased on engine in car the thing fired up fine for 1 min. then died . if you put ether in it it will run so i pulled the fuel line and got soaked so i guess it is putting out fuel and spark. Now that i have the timing fixed i find that i dont have fuel signal to injectors! would i be right assuming that the ecm is bad also or am i jumping the gun. the numbers on ecm if that be the case are 22611aa930f ja18000rh1 1829 any suggestions would be appreciated BUT NO DYNAMITE SUGGESTIONS PLEASE. HA! Dennis -

put oil in cylinders and brought comp. from 60 to about 150 but that isnt the whole story. checked belt timing and discovered that it was a little off. pulled front cover and geared idler pulley just to right of crank and down at bottom has a busted bearing with balls laying all in timing cover . guess it could be trouble! does anyone have one! you may be on to something with comp. i stated earlier that when i got the car from someone else very recently it had about two inches of extra oil in it that turned out to be raw gas. good thing it didnt start HA! maybe cylinders got washed with gas and need a little shot of oil in cyl. to bring comp. back. couldnt work on it today went to church tonight but will check comp. also timing belts .should be next step right! thanks for help Dennis -

on my no start problem... Check spark at coil pack with extra plug grounded at top of block, spark ok, but blue-red flame. Took inlet fuel line loose turned key and fuel sprayed out. Unhooked wire to coil pack tested igniter like book says don't have any 12 vote signal comming out if igniter, book says could be igniter or ECM. Also, the book I have says on 92 Legacy AWD that the ECM is on passinger side at your feet under carpet NOT SO, saw something under left side of dash that looks like it but I'm not sure, where to next guys??? Thanks Dennis -
bought a 1992 soob legacy sw. awd auto. with ej22 engine. question! Car will not start, flash code of knock sensor, replaced knock sensor, no help. flash code of cam sensor, replaced, no help. Checked timing bekt, checked fine, still no start. Cranks strong and tries to fire. COULD IT MAYBE THE ENGINE COMPUTER? Where do I go from here? All codes were with the flashing light in the dash. Please help. Dennis

71 bug with a EA81 subaru engine (carb problems)
waltee_d replied to Will the Thrill's topic in Subaru Transplants
im thinking of doing the same thing to a 1973 super beetle and i was wondering if the engine stays under cover or does it stick out a lot please send picture or advise THANKS DENNIS -
i thought i would put it where the spare tire fits and run pipesunder car to back end. seems like the only place it will fit. i tried to contact krautwagen to see some finished pictures of vw especially from back to see if the ea82 will go in without any telltale bulge of engine cover but he hasnt replied as of yet if you can give any advise it would be helpful THANKS DENNIS

hello gentlemen since i know that i have an ea82 with mpfi in a 1986 soob could any one tell me what is the horse power please thanks dennis i just found a link to a 1988 1.8 and it says h.p. is 115 does that sound right. boy that would be an improvment to my 50h.p. in my beetle HA!!!

many thanks Dennis
-
found out i have a 1.8 but the adapter co. wants if it is an overhead cam . my cams are beside of heads not over them so does this mean its not.
-
Kennedy Engineering ask if my engine is an 1.8 overhead, it had 2 cams, but they are beside of the head not over head. Does this still mean overhead? Thanks, Dennis
-
Right on target guy's, by the id number link, I was able to find out it is a 1986 MPFI 1.8 so this will help in my volkswagen transplant. I am dealing with an out fit out of California by the name of Kennedy Eng. that makes an adaptor to put in a 73 volkswagen superbeetle if any is interested I'll let you know the progress. The adaptor is round $450 if anyone is interested. Thanks a bunch for your help. Dennis
