I'm wanting to mount some new speakers in my '92 Loyale. I've replaced the two front speakers that came in the car. As you probably know, there are only two pre-existing spots for speakers in this model. Where would be the best place to mount new speakers? I was thinking about mounting 6X9's in the back doors and cutting holes through the interiors of the doors to mount them, but I'm thinking that the mounting depth would be to great and would interfere with the plastic sealing sheet that's in there to keep out the moisture. Anybody have experience with this? Where's a good spot? What did you put in? Do's or dont's?

New plugs, new wires. But when I stand at the rear and listen to the exhaust, it sounds like this: RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR-fup-RRRRRRRRRR-fup-RRRRR-fup-RRRRRRRRR-fup You get the idea. I'm thinking bad rotor/distributor at this point. Any thoughts? How does one trouble shoot this issue? Thanks! '92 Loyale Fuel injected 1.8L, 63K http://www.brianchurilla.com

No, manual. What is in that group of lines that runs at the base of the radiator, then?

I have a '92 loyale fuel-injected 1.8. I replaced my drive belts this morning, and noticed that there was a descent amount of oil sitting around the base/crossmember area that the radiator is sitting on. Seems strange. I am aware of a small oil pan leak that I have, but it doesn't make sense that the miniscule amount of oil that IS leaking would make it all the way up there.

What the heck is SEAFOAM? I thought he was just making a joke.

I have a '92 Loyale that has some lifter noise coming from the left side. How do you diagnose which lifter is the offending one? How do you fix it? Thanks ahead of time. http://www.brianchurilla.com

I'm going to repace the drive belts on my Loyale this weekend. It's a '92 1.8L with A/C and power steering. I went to pick up replacement belts, and the smaller belt of the two is a toothed belt. I checked and rechecked, but kept coming up with the same toothed belt as the replacement part. Neither of the old belts are toothed belts. Is it okay to put said toothed belt in as the replacement? Am I missing something? Perplexed. http://www.brianchurilla.com

I have a tiny (very tiny) leak coming from the oil pan. I already have a new gasket, and I'm going to take care of it this weekend. That said, there is a lot of residual oil caked on the underside of the engine components as well as some on the exhaust. Every once in a while it smokes from the underside after I drive it. Is it just cooking said oily residue? Or is this a sign of impending doom? Doom.... dooom....DOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, BC http://www.brianchurilla.com

Just a story I need to tell.. I had a rough day..

wow. epic. great story. -
Okay. about the fuel odor, that makes sense then. I have to do a lot of start and stop. But the dark residue around the threads of the plugs--deffinately didn't look like anti-sieze comp.
-
I changed the oil today and noticed there was a fait fuel odor in the old oil. I know that's not normal. Also, does anti-sieze compund corrode and leave a dark residue on plug threads? I replaced the plugs, and on the threads was a dark residue ( I'm hoping that it's not motor oil ). There weren't any problems on the ignition points though. No oily residue- It was quite dry and clean, save for some carbon build up. So I don't know... Thanks ahead of time.

How the heck do you get the foot rest from an early 90's soob 5spd with out destroying it? I felt around for a screw head but could not find it. Anyone know the secret? Is there a chant, or secret password perhaps? I'm trying to take it out of a dead soob and put it into my working soob, which for some reason, had it's taken out before I bought it.

will do. thanks!

Chux: It does it even when it's warmed up. No weird sounds or anything. ---and it's a carbed 1.8

92 loyale 1.8, 5spd, 4wd, 63K Thanks for the info!
-
yeah I know: 700+/-100

Is it normal for a slight shimmying and shaking of the car when it idles? It's idling at 804rpm which is 4rpm's too fast according to the spec, but I doubt that that would be causing it. This is my first Subaru, and I am unsure whether this is normal.

5spd, 4WD, pwr everything. cream puff. did I mention 63K orig. miles? ha! my kids'll probably be driving this to school. and i don't even have any kids yet.
-
hey thanks all. i'm really exited about the purchase. i'm already working on being honda-free. just have one to sell. then i'm all subaru.
-
Well, I've been owning and working on hondas for over ten years. I came across this cream puff and couldn't pass it up. '92 Loyale, 63K original miles, one owner, no accidents. Mint. So, I'll be around... Probably asking really stupid questions. That engine is an alien landscape to me. Never worked on Subarus.
