  6. Its time to replace the struts on my 86 brat but if i am going to do it i want the best i can afford Ideally some longer struts would be best so when I lift it I wont have to lower the strut mounts. If that is not possible I would like to at least gain a little suspension travel. I have heard that you can use the struts from a 73 super beetle and gain some travel but I need mare info before i put the effort forth to find these. If you have used these struts or if you know of a better mod PLEASE chime in with your thought opinions or musings.

  10. I need struts for my brat did a search learned about the 73 super beetle conversion and the use of ea82 rear struts on the front of ea81 model. I have heard rumors about wrx aftermarket struts that can be modified to fit 86 brat. If you have an opinion on which application is best or specific tips or info that may help me decide which way to go please feel free to put in your two cents aaaaaanyone
  11. I don't know abput 12,000 rpms or rally rule or what not what I do know for sure is my family had a 86 justy when I turned 16. that car took soooo much abuse from me and my brother and without any problems whatso ever.
  12. YOU DON'T BUY BRATS IF YOUR WORTHY THEY FIND YOU!!!!
  13. I have a standard small truck tool box that i cut down to fit in my brat. I mounted it in the bed but about a 1 1\2 forward of the tail gate and six inches off the floor of the bed so the top of the box is only slightly higher than the trim, this leaves plenty of room for cargo and the tool box for storage also makes a really nice bench when you open the tailgate.
  14. Theres one in afield near here VW pickup that is. I couldn't help daydreaming the other day What if you put the running gear from a sub and made that puppy a 5spd d/r? :-p
  15. Ever go surfing on the black sea? 10x
  16. Seriously from what i have seen of my unhooked hill holder it is very similar if not the same as the master cylinder on your breaks . you will probably need new O rings and possibly have to have the cylinder honed to clean up any pitted or rust on the contact area. that is where the O rings contact the cylinder.
  17. a junkyard filled with subie let me att it anyone heard of such a shangri la. I know a guy has two 78 brats and 0ne 82 in his back yard but i wouldn't consider it a junkyard:eek:

  20. Hill Holder Hill Holder Hahahahahahah We Don't Need No Stinkin Hill Holder!!
  21. rust free california brat 800$, A lifetime of brat filled fun and memories priceless!!
  22. Does that mean that a highboy camper from a gen 1 won't fit a gen 2 or a 86 brat that would blow because I found one that I can probably get pretty cheap:-\
  23. I had kind of the same problem after I put a d/r 5sd turbo tranny in my 86 brat. because the transmission was from a turbo the disk had to be from a turbo so I bought the turbo clutch kit and installed it. When I got around to driving it it would not fully engage, long story short I had to take it out and when I compared the pressure plates the new one from the turbo didn't go as deep as the old one thats why it didn't engage so if you still have the old pressure plate compare how much they travel, you could probably use the old one just rough it up with some sand paper and go to town:burnout:
  24. My 86 does the same thing I'm thinking the coil is breaking down cause its worse when its cold and under any moderate to heavy load plus the car has 216,000 on the clock and for all I know its the original coil.
