  1. my owner's manual for 99 leg l sedan 2.2 ej-22 5-sp says cambelt change interval is 105000 miles, but check every 30000 miles.
  2. yes i had read about going to solid lifters and hi-top pistons with short skirts and a bumped compression ratio, but i really want to know whether this particular engine EJ221 is non-int or int. as i had previously posted, the production date was in 11/98. as to waking the neighbors up, i think the ludwigs, strat and PA can do that quite well thank you;)
  3. yes i was talking about a usa ej22. someone said phase 1 was non-int and phase 2 was int. what is the deal here? i think there is some lore involved here as i was told that my old 928 was int however when it blew the cam belt on the kansas turnpike nothing was broken. again, it is an ej221 on the dataplate on the left front of the engine bay. regardless, this sob seems like a tough mo-fo as in bulletproof.
  4. we're talking 99 leg l sedan 30th anniv 5-sp with a build date of either 11/98 or 11-19-98 and an EJ221 as shown on dataplate. appears to be a sohc, original mso said 142 hp net, cars101 says it's a 142 hp phase 2, what is the deal here? btw, the owner's manual shows that possible engine types are EJ221 and EJ223. just trying to determine whether it's interference or not. also, the recommended cam belt change interval in the schedule of maintenance is 105,000 miles. much beyond that, this is a fine example of a sube, imho. thanks in advance.
  5. there is a TSB on this problem. as i recall, the solution is something very minor like removing a particular spring and adding a washer or something like that. no overhaul required. find a mechanic who has an alldata subscription and you'll get the answer. i thought it only applied to legacy's and outbacks.
  6. well, i bought a black metal bracket that attaches to somewhere under the bumper and to the tag. i'm going to have to remove the bumper anyway since some doofus prior owner probably hit a dog or a fence or a keg or something and busted some of the plastic push-pins under there. the diagrams that i've seen don't show any part numbers for any items under the bumper to attach this bracket to, but i don't even trust my parts department because they are in dum f__k jackson hole and have no clue that the earth is round. come on guys, someone has to have a FSM for this particular area. cough it up and you will have immense good karma heading your way.
  7. how about a scan of the FSM for the under bumper area. skip, you still here? emily, you got that info? PLEASE HELP A POOR BROKE 928 MECHANIC
  8. has anyone removed the front bumper from this model to see whether there is a mounting bracket in there?
  9. 99 leg l sedan 25th anniv, 2.2 l 5-sp. bought the front bracket and the funky bolts that hold it on. went to thread in the bolts and found no threaded holes to attach to. the plate would hang in front of the bumper intake. now it is simply attached to the front bumper. dealer said several cars got away from the factory without the license hardware under the bumper. has anyone else had this problem and, if so, do you have part numbers for the under bumper hardware? thanks.
