  1. I have an 87 gl wagon, but it needs a new head gasket. Is this something that I can repair myself, or should I leave it to a professional? If it is something I can do myself, are there guides that anyone can recommend?
  2. Thanks hoozie..... Haven't tried to fix it yet, but you're saying it is possible to remove the panel with the door shut using the method you described?
  3. The door latch on the driver's side of my 87 Subaru GL suddenly quit working. Locks work, but the door from inside or out won't open. Springs seem to be working, but door won't open. I can't figure out how to get inside the door to try and fix it..... Any ideas?? Thanks for any help!!
  4. Thanks for coming to the rescue once again. yeah, maybe it would help to read the directions......
  5. I put a new modulator valve in my 87 gl wagon (and cleaned the governor, and replaced trans pan gasket and filter). Running much better, but seems to shift a bit early. Is there an easy way to adjust this? Or is there a difficult way to adjust this? Or anything in between? Thanks for any help!

  7. Thanks for the quick replies, you two. I'll give this a try.
  8. Recently acquired my first Subaru ever..... an 87 GL wagon. It had sat for the past few years; has 191000 miles with about 60000 on a newer engine. Engine seems to be running well (after some carb cleaner) but automatic transmission seems to slip after extended driving. Also, it seems to take more speed to get it to shift; it goes into second around 23 mph, and into third around 47. Do I need a new transmission, or is it possible that a flush would help?
