I found progressif replacement springs (apperently springs that change winding density on one side). I can choose only for 55% increased stiffness progressive spring. I found that the car is hanging after i filled up the propane tank (spare tyre place) this one is 52 liters and at 80% max filling it weights about 800 grams a liter it is a huge weight including the 27 kg of the tank. I never noticed it but I went to swiss and filled the gas tank as well because it was very cheap so there is 100 liters of fuel hanging on the rear. So the springs looked fine I just need stiffer springs!!!

Because only Europe and Japan they understand that you need a fast car instead of a big and heavy one. (and fuel is expensive here) In France the Gendarmerie (police) is waiting with a lasergun at restplaces next to the highway at the exit only for one reason. So when a 'baddy' passes they can do a flat out launch with their WRX. In UK they use imprezas because the roads are crappy and muddy and it always rains. Plus there are lots of young mad people racing. In holland they used porsches some time ago but now usually VW golf V32R so if you have an impreza wrx you can still outrun them on curved roads.

When driving there is no excessive body roll or being pushed backwards. When cornering i have not the idea of loosing traction even when going fast. It just looks like it is hanging a bit on the rear. If the spring is broken i would for sure notice it during driving i assume. Will have a look at it. The problem with shocks and springs is that the wear is so gradual you wont notice it during driving. I think KYB is not a big brand in Europe at least not in Holland. I will get the struts myself and compress them with springs to put them on with a friend who is also making the underbody protection.

My impreza station is a bit hanging in the back, preferably i would like to stand a bit higher but not an outback sport conversion. Most likely new struts (10 years old now) will do a big difference already. What i have found now is that the struts for both impreza and legacy stations are the same (is this true?) Are there weight catagories with struts, i mean can you get less firm ones? I found bildstein (very very expensive) and monroe (117 euros a piece l/r)

I have a normal subaru impreza plus 1.6, does anybody knows the angle of approach (incline in the front). At the rear (how steep can i go down without driving off my front and rear bumper. But more important how much can it tilt sideways on a lefthand drive 1 person driving?

indeed would love to see some photos of both engine underguard and rear diff protector. I want to have both but shipping from US is a bit to expensive. Here they are hard to find and very expensive. So doing it myself is the only option then. And where is the best place to mount them, which bolts to put where?

I always thought it is best to have the smallest difference between engine speed and drivetrain speed, so you can quickly apply the clutch and lock the engine/drivetrain. But how do you mean "riding the clutch into high gears" like starting from 2nd or driving in 4th at low speeds (with locked drivetrain). I also know people who drive with the foot half on the clutch because they are afraid. Nevertheless abusing a young car is not good!

When i took my old subie to the dealer for replacing it (rusted chassis) i emptied the gas tank by using the internal pump. Then i added exactly 1 liter which should be just enough for it to drive the dealer (12 km) so i also to 1 liter in a bottle just in case. The light came on after 5 km but how the tank was completely empty. The last 2 km just for the fun of it I stepped on it giving a jump and then loosing all the power. It stopped and ran again. In general i never dared to drive more than 600 km on a single tank usually 550 but then the light came only one once in a while and went off after left turns. The meter i never trusted first line was 110 km then half way was after 300 km (total) then 450 for the 3rd line and at 550 light came on now and then.

Same as in Latvia they just have the sand gravel. And many roads there are dirt/gravel roads with tilted corners so as long as you take them on the inside (hoping no other car comes from the other side) it is fine. Without ABS i just floor the brake pedal until i have to correct steering and this seems to work fine.

My impreza does not have ABS (nor airbags) and since years we have a very big winter in Holland. The government ran out of salt for de-icing the road a couple of times. We need salt over-here because the surface we drive on is designed for lots of rain (open structure concrete asphalt of 5 cm). So if it rains the water runs through the pores of the road and does not splash it is kind of dry. However the snow of last weeks puts a layer of ice in the pores resulting in the top layer of asphalt braking off. Last week i broke my windscreen because of some stones flying around, luckily i have insurance for windows not for paint. So no salt no de-icing of the asphalt leaving an ice layer. Still (mainly BMW and Audi) drivers race like mad on frozen shiny roads. You learn driving without ABS. I have been driving in winters in Latvia on iced roads just taking care. Still i like winters and snow just take care and have the proper tyres seems more important to me than ABS. Over here ABS and ESP made many people drive very very careless.

Thanks for the quotation but it would going to be near the value i paid for the car. This morning again idiots who think they can drive 0.5 meter behind you. Strange enough in holland it is 80% a BMW, and the other 20% can be divided over VW golf, audi's and Seat somehow VAG group attracts young idiots in cars. BMW is diagnosis

Funny to see how Nissan got their name. Good Subaru is a constellation!!!! Nope for sure subaru is not producing boxer blocks for porsche. However porsche is very interesting in the diesel boxer because 60% of european cars are diesels. Nowadays all porsche boxers are watercooled as subaru. Only BMW still uses aircooled boxers for motor bikes.

I bought the scangauge 2 in the hope it would work but it does not. My subaru impreza 1999 1.6 works apparently under ISO 9141-2. An other car we have a Bremach iveco (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a5/Bremach_Trex_camper.png) does not work either and that car is from 2009 running the ISO 9141-2 protocol. A toyota yaris working under ISO protocol does work. Apparently there are more ISO protocols (the bremach was self build camper to travel around the world)
