1. I read somewhere that you would need a right hand drive car to make those JDM swaps easy, is this true? Also I have VERY limited funds ATM, and 250 bucks is right up my alley!
2. I was thinking about the 90 swap cause of the dollars, it is a running car for 250 bucks, hit in the right rear with no title. I have been told a few times my engine is not worth rebuilding, it over heated bad, it shut it self off, it does still run but, it cooked the oil, and it always had a "cold start" tapping noise that went away when warmed up with clean oil. I don't know what to do now. There are no cheap 97 up subs around me. I was told, by a scrap yard guy, that I need to find a 97 98 or 99 subaru to donate an engine for my car. I am lost with out my wheels!
3. I am starting to think I can do this, I just gots to make sure the 90 runs good and buy it now. So use the whole donor engine, harness and all, but what about the computer in my car, do I need the box from the donor if im using its harness? Thanks again!
4. Ok, worst case then, motor fits and I use the Intake and Fuel injection setup it came with, what else then? Would I need the CPU from the donor? Are there wiring diagrams to help me mod my harness to the older intake, ect...? Thanks for all your help so far Legacy777! I have never done an engine swap before, I have rebuilt the top end of a renault 4 cyl and it ran when I was done. I hand filed the head flat. From what I have been reading here and there, I have the first year for the interference 2.2 , would it be a better bet to find a 97 donor? [/url] Pictures for your effort Legacy!
5. Thanks!!! I am going to try to buy that 90 with the 2.2 for 250 then. Any chance my intake and harness will bolt right up that 2.2?
6. Hello I am a newb here, I looked at the first 12 pages to try to answer my questions but didn't find it. I have a 97 Brighton WGN, with a 2.2 non turbo, 4EAT trans. I over heated it and the head gaskets blew. I love the car, I want to keep it, It is optioned to look like a OBW and I have silver 16" in 2.5 RS wheels on it. I need to know what motors will bolt right in, I am looking at a 90 L wagon with a 2.2, for 250 bucks, can I use this motor??? What years for the 2.2 are bolt ins, what about 2.0 or 2.5 engines??? Thanks for the help!!!
