  1. what is the height of that tire measured with a tape measure? I think the general rule of thumb is cannot go down a size from factory, due to it hitting the brake caliper on the backside of rim Now, I would like to pursue this for my lifted BRAT>
  2. is it http://desmoines.craigslist.org/ctd/1309028865.html listed here? you won't usually get a good car from a dealer like this.
  3. ok. good luck Ben. Please take a jack with you, and a jack stand, and get up under it and poke around the frame rails....inspect it real well, if its not rusty, then go for it.
  4. I would probably stash your 100 away, and wait for a GL to come up. or, maybe buy it, forget about putting your money into the body of guido, and make this 4wd until a GL comes up. how good is the underbody on this?
  5. whats the point. Get a 4WD GL. they are to be found. and they can be had for just as cheap. my ideas, are well, just ideas. take it for what its worth, not much. don't ban me though. Okay I suppose if you got it, it would definitely have to be zero rust, and you would convert to 4wd. what caused the fire inside, were they making meth
  6. an AC idler pulley. well, the bracket will be bolted to the block with like 2 bolts. pretty cake. make sure its the AC idler pulley he is telling about, not the Tbelt idler pulley..
  7. the interior in this Brat is a mix i think. the door sill is blue, the driver door panel is blue, the passenger panel looks black. the driver side of the dash looks grey or black, and the passenger side looks blue. I think it is originally blue, and someone rattle canned the dash to black or grey. But the steering wheel looks the Gray........and the A pillar trim is grey. go figure this out. I did once see (McBrat saw it too) a hatch fwd with black interior. It was rattlecanned.
  8. they are making cars safer with airbags and such, but they need to be safer with the composite headlights. half the cars on the road have yellowed lights, and they have night vision problems with good light output. your before and after at night with the light output is scary. if the govt forces safety airbags, why dont they force better lasting non yellowing lights? you definitely improved your safety.
  9. all subaru hood scoops flake the clearcoat- turbo legs 91-94 leg gt obw RS wrx etc The forester will be a nice upgrade in refinement.
  10. there's one in my local parts yard that you could get parts off of......Not sure about the fender, but i am pretty sure the hood, lights, bumper, suspension is good. It might be a FWD model. they are pretty cheap. they give you a choice to pull it yourself or have them.
  11. show more picks, I am calling it the pickle wagon.
  12. pleade use blocks on the front crossmember too. There are too many post on here of people griping about tire wire, camber like \ / , and yes CV axles wearing. Don't waste your time on this at all unless you are doing the crossmember the right way-with blocks.
  13. lots and lots of batteries needed. lots of charging to keep them fresh. can't let batteries freeze in the winter, etc current battery technology not good enough, too many charge cycles eats them. replacement needed all the time can't use older batteries I want to do this to my BRAT when we get tiny micro batteries, lay them in the bed of the BRAT and charge them via a solar panel on top of them. gotta wait for technology to get there.
  14. I just bought a Waterloo tool top chest 11 drawer i saw on Craigs.. it doesnt have ball bearing drawers, but for 175, it has 11 drawers i couldnt go wrong, and it locks with the key.
  15. the parts BRAT I have "Rolls". maybe you can use it for your "rolling tool boxes" Did you get a box yet?
  16. could be a few different things. maybe the top nut holding the tophat is not tight. maybe the tophat was rotated before it was installed, there is a dot or arrow to point the top part out. maybe the stabilizer bar if so equipped got turned and mounted with it up, not down (this can happen, but when you turn it would scrape the inner wheel) maybe the brake line hose is tangled somehow thats about all i can think of
  17. i like it. last one i saw that color was at wrench n go. but it had turned mostly rust color:eek: yours looks beautiful.
  18. thanks Mick. And I would think that you would want to ADD weight in the back after the Bobbing procedure, these things are already too light in the back, so that would make it even lighter.
  19. i bet the spring coiler is in it backwards in reverse. When you apply 12v, does it closer even tighter than when its cold? adjust it by rotating the choke cover, adjust to it has slight tension only when cold. then apply 12v, and it it closing tighter? it should open, not close when you apply 12v/. if not, its in backwards. Thats how mine came to me, its a easy fix by popping off the 3 screws on the cover, then use a needle nose to pull out the wire coil, then flip it over, and reinstall.
  20. lots of 99's had a problem with the speedo cluster failing. Its a well known problem of them, and only on the 99's. heres a thread to get you started http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=79432&highlight=speedometer+cluster
