  1. if you want to fix the 4wd light being on issue, you will need to take off the console/ebrake plastic cover and look for the black plastic switch for the indicator, it is probably in 2 pieces by now. the other issues, are just simply what happens when one lifts a BRAT. I have the same and so do you. Live with it, or take it back to stock. There is a lot of extra issues that no-body writes about after a lift install. I am with you, and wish that things went better.
  2. i would think the fuel pump either works or doesnt. I am in the group of people who rarely sees a failure of the fuel pump. something clogged maybe, something in the pump itself i doubt. clogged line, fuel tube kinked, sock on the pump twisted, yeah. I sure hope you can trouble shoot this, its tough and i been there same type problem
  3. just an fyi, on my 85 BRAT 120k miles when i llfted 4" i had to re-weld, redesign the shift linkage for anything to work AT ALL. no joke my shifter is not sloppy either. I got eerything good now, except the 4wd indicator light switch is busted due to heavy hard 4wd activation. this is my 2nd switch. I really don't comprehend those who lifted 4 inches and never had a problem. also, AC cannot work after lift without a brain to fabricate the mounts/pulley/belt to route over the radiator lower hose....
  4. i was so pissed at the way this thing is down on power. Compared the throttle cable adjuster nuts on the BRAT vs my rescue wagon. Made the adjustment, and I have improvement. 20 foot burn out on the street on my snow tires just accomplished. I have some upper band power range back. I have to just get this thing fine tuned and running like the rescue wagon and i would be happy. But, this is a California BRAT, hitachi feedback crap and emissions crap and whatnot. So it may never get to a point i am happy w/o a weber 32/36 Should i go the next step and unplug the brain? another thing, the fuel pump seems to make a buzzing sound, maybe i should get a new one of those too. any help appreciated
  5. sorry to hear. Where about are you stranded? if you were close i would come help. It might be a dirty sock on the pump. Probably pull it out with a phillips screw driver, inspect the sock for clog
  6. not all air pressure guages read alike. 5lbs psi off per guage is the norm take 5 guages, all different makes, brands, none will give a same reading on a tire. One will show 33, the other will show 38, in the same tire. once you figure if the guage you have reads high or low, compare to 5 other guages, then you can accurately determine what your pressure really is. some guages read low, some high, some in between. find out where yours compares. Also, were the tires hot or cold when you checked. What was the outside temp that day? Lots of things affect pressure. Unluckily, the new cars have the idiot lights to tell us if it thinks the tire is low. Tell me how those onboard guages work in 6 years.... Sounds like your old outback was a good one, got many miles out of it. Anyhow, yeah just find out where your guage reads high or low, and then adjust accordingly
  7. the cover shields are there to prevent salt spray from getting to the tube, but instead, the design flaw traps salty slush in there and it rusts even quicker. I wish smart people would engineer these, well, people that are well versed in the salt belts.
  8. especailly if your plugs were worn down enough to open the gap larger than spec., which would not allow full burn of fuel, and not as strong spark... Of course, new plugs, properly gapped, should increase all around performance.
  9. The video is up from this here: http://www.roadrallycharities.com/events/mudcoast/ It was "Dust Coast" til about 4:00 minute mark on the video At the 6:56 time til the end, you will find some interesting Jeep shots.....that was when it got fun. The first 4 minutes not totally worth watching except for seeing my rescue wagon and SubieMech85's 78 BRAT, the last 6 pretty good. We needed rain. it was 112 miles round trip. I have the route still, if Subaru's around wanna go someday.
  10. I can go to the dealer 60 miles away (ramsey), have them order the part, and wait longer on them getting the part, than calling Jason, and having him order, receive, and ship the part to me. +100 for Jason
  11. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=97550&highlight=ea81+motor+mounts see post #8 and #9 but note ****you cannot see my POST in there, but can see quotes to my post. I got banned, and when you get banned, posts get deleted. That would have been very helpful for you if my post had not got deleted. errr I should take this up with the admins of the board about deleting useful posts when banned.
  12. all 3 of my legacy's that leaked, was the O-ring gone bad down by the sterring rack where the hoses attach..... never had a pump leak.
  13. Was going to drive the SVX in to work today. Battery Dead. Drove the BRAT instead Got home, put the charger on the SVX, and well, guess i had the parking light maybe fog light switch on. Guess the ignition off does nothing to prevent switch from lighting those lights. This pisses me off. Wonder how many times i will end up draining a battery cause of stupidity. Darn it again. Its not even a virgin switch on the steering column, this is the switch along the dash panel next to the heated mirror switch (which by the way i never plan to drive the SVX in snow or ice, so that is a waste as well) Time to junk her too.
  14. i've got 2 of these as well lol gonna use them as paperweights i guess, maybe dog chew toy. did you see the other thread where i posted the same.
  15. man do i miss that. I remember living in Denver, getting 36" snow in one night, and when i got ot work the next day, my pager was going off. I forgot to check the back fence, and my dog had jumped over the 6ft tall fence. Had to go home, pick up the dog from said neighbor, and shovel out around the fence so he wouldn't jump out. fun times. thanks for the awesome pictures. has it all melted by now?
  16. if the wheel beads are garbage, then i would like to buy them. send me a pm if you want to sell
  17. I would not look at a place with only 11 feedbacks. there are many more out there which are trusted, JHot, etc come to mind. Do NOT get a twin turbo jdm, they won't work. Also, be aware you will have to reuse a USDM intake and the sensors associated with for the most part
  18. the ONLY EA81 around here are in my BRAT and Rescue wagon, in SubieMechs car, and in McBrats SUBYOTA and his Blue BRAT. EA81's are not to be had if you ask me. But i can get a handful of ej22's for cheap. a ea82 would be a downgrade, T belts and other associated issues. The ej22 would be the best upgrade
  19. ben you should borrow the WRX again for this. isn't your van due to havea leak during our campout, can you go ahead and reserve the impreza for that far ahead.
  20. ah your first post is worthless without pics. whoops you actually still have a post count of zero, this can't turn up ending well
  21. rescue wagon survived the trip back to iowa with just a rough guess and it ran well enough.
  22. if i dont get a weber on my BRAT by then it will be staying at home.
  23. You should borrow that to come get the Pugs. make a normal hour drive in like 25 minutes. and get a speed ticket while saving time.
  24. i also agree the valves probably got bent, that and you don't have the marks on the pullleys correct. I think it might be time to bite the bullet and look for a mechanic and replacement engine.
