torch. my 92 SS had a noisy rear caliper, and the bolt is so rusted, that it would be guaranteed to break off upon removal even after soaking it. If it breaks off, lots of hard drilling, and retapping. YOU DO NOT WANT T ORISM BREAKING IT OFF.....so TORCH is the only way when the car is in the salt belt. My 92SS came from MN btw.

85 subaru wagon clutch very difficult to depress
bheinen74 replied to barber's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
disconnect the clutch cable, it will push real easy, and will not return to position. jk good luck tho -
My 92 SS had very similar symptoms, its hydralic clutch too. It squeeked on pushing clutch in sometimes, and letting clutch pedal up after the squee, the pedal seemed to be what i would term "sticky" it would sort of hesitate, stick, release slowly, etc. It did this mostly in the fall getting to colder temps. It kind of went away, fixed itself, I attribute it to moisture? Maybe yours is very similar. Mine did this after a new clutch install, about 5 or 10k after the install. I have 20k now and the problem has not showed up for quite a while. good luck

what say you - 78 brat
bheinen74 replied to mcrae0104's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
do you drive daily in interstate traffic, or at least occasionally? if so, the BRAT is not a good daily driver. 68-73 hp no good for many normal driving roads where the speed limit is above 55mph -
you need a spare tire in the white one.
-
keep your white hood, the green one is worse, it has a hole in it, not surface rust due to chips. open up the green hatch, look for rust on the back side lip where the front sheet metal bends over to the back. Is there any rust, or at least very little on the green one. Swap the green hatch with the white hatch. keep your old lock cylinder from the white hatch.

this will require lots of Guinness to get me thinking

somebody should make a "locker" setup, something that can be pushed into the spider gears to lock it, and can be removed to unlock. This device would be on a spring loaded pin system accessed from the side of the case or the rear cover plate. Push the pin in, and it locks the diff. pull the pin outward and its open again. just a thought.

my dome light is always on after i give my dogs a car ride. Seems they bump the switch somehow. when you see me driving down the road with it on, its due to dogs. sounds like your door jamb switch needs cleaned or readjusted somehow or replaced. Its the little rubber boot covered button on the door near the hinge i believe.

the fact that the gas tank is so near, welding sparks a flying, and the fact it will have gear oil there, and the making sure you get all the welding slag and whatnot cleaned out, i would say remove the thing first. You have to make sure there is no little slivers of anything left behind in there.

nice shagwaggon. whats the motorcycle with sidecar, that looks sweet too. I see you took the pictures the other day before the leaves had fallen. jk. anyhow, what the shagwagon get for mileage, and did you do the swap.

Does the ea82 use this float needle?
bheinen74 replied to ferox's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
that looks like the float which came in my kit for 85 BRAT. which was the wrong needle and seat for my carb, but we modified it to work on my BRAT. -
Subaru gives us 2 lights, so lets make it 10. BRIGHT. All cars should be lit this way, so we can see the Deer and coons, and possums sooner. I would love to go shine that at a particular ex girlfriends front window every so often to piss her off.

wow bright, looks like a ufo in the night
