  1. :banghead::-\The person I rescued it from never transfered the title to himself (maybe due to Maines law) but I received the title, which now, since he never transferred into his own name, is a ISSUE. New Mexico title: person 1 selling to Jim then Jim signed title to ME. I cannot register it or get title in my name until the previous owner has titled it.. It has to be tranferred to jim, where he would apply or title, then he would transfer to me. Since there is NM, ME, IA, and jim is in UT, this is not going as planned, I would have to send title back to jim, he would have to register the car again, and obtain his own title then he would have to send the title to me. Its a lost cause for a nice car i wanted to use.
  2. slow using a big wide open vise. make sure you are aligning the stop hole to put in allen wrench, or similar take 10 minutes of slight but very slow tightening on the vise, just a little at a time, very very slow. use small allen wrench to hold closed, making sure the way to remove the allen wrench is pull from front of engine. ...top front removal when you take it out as its mounted to block

  4. that price (60) is like stealing milk from the babys bottle. They do look HOT. I always liked that style too. --- hmm, got any deals for a pair of SVX wheels?
  5. vote make it locked front diff FWD but put the steering ability in the rear wheels.....yaya wooo ha
  6. and what is going on by the river. I was just watching the news. they found something there. Hope you guys on the river are okay. now if i could just get this title nightmare fixed, and a clutch completed, etc i would be a happy person
  7. hey. rust is evil. jeesh we are getting a crowd in iowa finally. Will have a good camp outing this spring, yay. glad to see another one running
  8. older subarus were safer in snow, smaller skinny tires. newer subarus more likely to have bigger tires, easier to lose control. technology go figure. oh, but new ones have airbags and cd players and working AC.
  9. are we talking snow tires vs snow tires, or a good all season on old leggy and some crappy all season on the new legacy. Tires make all the difference. I will blame the tires, before the car, before the driver.
  10. if its on dirt, wouldnt turning just throw clods of dirt instead of eating axles. or would it literally eat axles due to the bind. I would think the tires would loose bite and throw dirt before the axles.....
  11. ej18 has block stamp ej18 ej22 has block stamp ej22 that part different obviously.
  12. due to freeze cold temps, then hot car temps, then cooling then hot again perhaps?
  13. well put. The nice BRATs should not be passed up when they come up for sale. Will NEVER loose money on a nice one. collector cult status.
  14. maybe that was taken from somebody who is looking for 14" jackmans... ie we know that person on here....i just got 4 14" pugs today....
  15. http://www.prosubaru.com/tech/wheels.htm and as always, the info on this page, is incorrect. The Jackman is not a correct wheel. that is the normal wagon wheel. OOOPS i read the listing. its worded correct for the pict. lol never trust the web.
  16. BRATs were made with em and should keep em. I point this feature out to people and it is so cool, that back then they made adjustable struts. its a cool factor. Show em up, crank em up right in front of people while they watch. Hw many TRUCKS have that, and a side step to get into the back.
  17. i would call this a loss and look for a ej22 to swap in. or how about a ea81 /ea82 swap. good luck sounds like the block has a hole in it that side, on the top end.
  18. its the T belt......will put money on it. yep. my 92 was sold to me with this problem. He said, that he checked the belt, no matter what, he could not get it to run, many new parts, new ecu, injectors, wiring, even the shop said t-belt was okay as it was newer. Well, I didn't trust anything, and checked it myself the right way. Yep, fixed that, and well, soon after, the clutch let go...... thing screams.
  19. coolant temp sensor.? timing belt on dead on correct? maf sensor cleaned. do you run a K&N air filter, those throw oil on to the MAF and cause this. what kind of plugs and plug wire
  20. You should have reused the clutch and pressure plate since it was newer, ie the previous owner so claims.
  21. just get a clutch disc for the 84 its bigger and better-and is the correct one for the 84. Why even try and use a used clutch, especially the smaller incorrect one from a 82. 82's need 82 clutch disc. 84-87 need the clutch disc for that year..
  22. i just saw a early Ford ranger on the way to work to day parked in a front yard for sale. It looked ok, was red, but had some black flames on the front hood/fender area to the wheel wells. Had custom sport wheels. probably asking not much. Would need to look close to determine rustness.
  23. all car suspension should be adjustable, that is the way Subaru designed it, and shock companies should not take that away. It was a brilliant design. ..... and more companies should follow, but that costs them money to design...lol
