  1. another 2.5 bites the dust, after a headgasket blows, typical, they replace the radiator first, then determine its more serious, so after cooking it a few more times, it must be the headgasket. So typical, put new HG and while in there, new water pump, new t-belt, etc. then it all goes bak together.....but it is knocking, so advertise it. I still would stay away from recent HG jobs on the 2.5's, asa dependable long term car. But I would buy it for cheaps, and ej22 swap it..toss out that 2.5 garbage. Subaru needs to bring back the castings for the 2.2 block and ASAP pretty much hear this everyday on the 2.5's
  2. yes it would, but they would need to make it offroad capable...not some low riding low to ground sports car with wide low profile tires. but that would not sell to any of the kids out there......they also need cd players, tv screens, amplifiers, etc etc etc. Subaru, please, make a BRAT, with a small 1.8 with dual high and low, and some standard 15" tires, no ground effects lip, lsd rear, funtops, with winch
  3. nice, but i think they also could be turbo legacy wheels from 91-93
  4. doh, bent rods and bent wrist pins and carnage all over that lower end.
  5. svx bolt pattern is 5x114 and legacy is 5x100 they won't work on a legacy. so sell me the 2 on top.
  6. sure I am more likely to go if there is company. Have been saving some vacation days up just for something like this.
  7. 5mt in the 91 legacy turbo sedan, and the 91 legacy turbo automatic also lsd. 1991 was vlsd, 3.9
  8. if you want to sell me the top 2 it would be great. the top 2 are for SVX. My SVX came with aftermarktet winter wheels, I prefer OEM wheel look, so am trying to get a set for this summer. IF you want to sell them let me know, you can pm me. thanks brent
  9. if i go, i am probably contemplating driving the Brat. It is not very fast car, but can hold flat road at 75, its the uphills it loses the speed. may be a long long jurney.
  10. since we are comparing subarus to subarus here, comparing the ej22 to the ej25, in all respects but power, the ej22 wins, anyhting 1996 down to 1990.
  11. if the clutch kit i just ordered for the BRAT turns out wrong, then maybe someone will get a bargain from me too. I am guessing a 50/51 chance its right....
  12. have you checked craigslist.? or just drive in the neighborhood you want to live, and pick up the pamphlets in the boxes on the for sale signs? you will find one, that is priced right and looks right. for sale by owner is good, and if you can do it without a agent on your side, you can ask the selling agent to act as buying agent mutually. if you buy it without realtor, then you can actaully get them cheaper. the selling agent by law can only get half the normal percentage he gets, and there is no buying agent fee for you to have to shell out. that savings can go to closing costs, or the downpayment
  13. i also say no. too much pricey car to maintain even the basics for that age driver. no way.. no way noway
  14. wofc watch out for critters. you might have a rodent chewed wire somewhere....that can cause voltage to drop etc... or it could be something else
  15. Ben I would pass. Not much resale value in a house with no garage. this one no room to add a garage, menas low low resale value. I bet you can find one with a garage, and just as nice, for same price. people are unloading houses fast these days. make a list with the requirements of the house, including price level max, and tell the realtor to find something that fits that requirment list. Think ahead on resale value too. No one, wants a house with no garage. they will just go buy one with a garage, which i hope you decide to do. good luck though. If you need more advice I can chat with you. I am on my second house already i am not a lot older yet. .
  16. did you get it into contract yet? There are plenty of homes with garages.......may not be too late.
  17. and insurance companies will factor price of replacement based on dealers pricing, not ehh private party sellers value. Dealers value are higher, or should be and you can bring that up with them. ask them, what dealer in any state in the US, will have a reliable car maintained and selling for only 135? they will not be able to come back with that answer. best bet they will find a car for 1g from a dealer that is safe. screw them.
  18. it adds to the fun when you start mixing and matching legos, drop in a 5spd in place of a 4spd, swap to FI, add rear discs, etc. I think it is easier in the long haul to keep my oldies stock.....but sure wish i could put a ej22t in there.
  19. i am sure glad you got that over a caravan. ALL Dodge's the name means something They barely dodge the warranty. They build a transmission to last the mileage of the warranty, but nothing further. the transmissions will alll fail shortly after it gets out of warranty, and dodge doesn't care, they won every time. consumers never keep a dodge more than a few years due to this....that's why you will see 3 year old dodges for the cheaps. A dodge is always in the shop once it reaches after the warranty expiration....Dodges are pretty much throw away cars after 3 years.
  20. doubtful a 82 fwd is the ea81 i saw a ea61? in a fwd 85+ hatch once........
  21. that white car is scary to have the jack holding it like that. wow. i would invest in some jackstands asap. i have seen cars tip a jack over like that, and it aint pretty.
  22. reuse the tamper proof torx, and need to replace the airbag control module in the center console. sensors can be resused they are self resetting. once a airbag module computer blows a bag, it can never be used again.
