  1. the strut top hat mount looks kinda like a 1st gen legacy
  2. Ben. You should start getting parts at Auburn Subaru (formerly 1st subaruparts.com) They will ALWAYS get you the right ones and all you do s tell them year make model, ask for Jason. you will find thier prices to be cheaper than aftermarket places are around here. And the parts will get here quick. I got some stuff i need to order, we could split shipping even.
  3. Is there anything I should know about removing front fenders from a 85 Brat? things that pop nto my head are is there any seamsealer/glue attaching them i need to know of? Just bolts to remove correct, like no seam welds? gonna trim so my tires clear .....:-\ and then POR 15 the entire backsides
  4. I think mine shows about 47 or so with my 205/75/15 and that equals about 55. too soon to tell tho for sure. just overlay some stickers over the speedo face for correction lol
  5. wow, that thing isn't even lifted if i would dare say. nice.
  6. I am going to get out my civic from storage, last time i put any gas in it was probably in 2006. it ran fine last summer for the 25 minutes i run, but the gas was 1 yr old then. This time, it will be 2+yr old gas. will report after this weekend.
  7. crap, throw some noodles in there, top with spagetti sauce, and some grated parm, and its dinner. wow.
  8. snaps on to the rear seat bottom when it is folded up position. It is a protector for when the back seat portion folds down, where the headrest would meet the bottom as it is folded front. i --edit, this is for my 94 leg wagon. maybe ea wagon different? -if ea not need this, then discard into trash.
  9. I only got the power movement controls to work on my outback heated seats that went in my Brat. Did not get the heated part to function, cause my brat does not have the correct heat relay lol. I didnt pull the relays from the donor car, and then they went and crushed it. adjustment motors work fine without the relay.
  10. check hoses they could be doubled over, bent enough to cut flow off.
  11. i call that a fender sincer your outer fender mia. i always wondered what they were for too, they are in the way on changing our the axles, and they are sort of similar to the axle mudlflaps on the back......but they don't have a purpose i now of.
  12. nice, but what happened to the rear passenger quarter trim strip in the picture with the 3 wheeler in it. Molding is falling off?????in that pic, but not in the 1st pic.
  13. uh, took a power seat from a 04 leg and put into a 85 brat.
  14. the plastic bushing at the very bottom of the shifter is the only reason I had sloppy shifter. all my others were fine, but the bottom bushing was basically destroyed. i kept reading threads where it said to do this, that, but nobody mentions that bottom one as the culprit. good notice here.
  15. agreed. i am on a 4inch lift on my 85 brat and tire size 205/75/15 and the fronts rub on turns. its a slight rub but noisy as hell. rear are fine, not even close to rubbing, only the fronts. gonna trim i guess. your tire size is larger yet.
  16. probably a sensor/switch, stuck or broke. pull out the ebrake cover and console, you will see a switch with a black and red wire next to the 4wd selector. thats is most likely the problem, either it is stuck, not disengaging the switch....cracked in half due to the way plastic gets brittle.
  17. order from 1stsubaru parts.com ask for Jason when you find there 800 number. they will get you the correct parts, and you will not pay stealership like prices that you will see in the MN area. shipping will be like 8 bucks for everything you get, but their prices are wholesale, not stealership marked up bend over take it or leave... in the long run, you will get your parts and they will be correct and last as long as you have the car.
  18. be careful to not wipe off the letters. I was able to hold my carb at different angles to the sun and see the letters. then i decided maybe brake cleaner would help me see them better-oops they mostly rubbed off, but I had written them down by that time. I used a tool makers letter stamp punch kit and they are in there permanently now and, I am probably looking at going weber as well.
  19. on that video, it looks like the Brat, was once pulling that cement mixer, and that the rear wagon wheels were pulled out from under the brat, which the wheels are still laying next to the concrete mixer....wonder what was going on there.
  20. Did you change out the water pump? I would definitely throw on a 40 dollar water pump, and try that first. My brat I got from Cali, the water pump was going out just from sitting for so long the seals started to leak. I wasn't getting any bubbling like you, but it would run a little warmer than i liked and it started to drip coolant from the pump shaft after i drove it the first several hundred miles, running down the edge of the block, and finally onto the exhaust. Was wierd the pump wasn't noticeable leaking my first hundred miles on the car, but then i guess the seals were just old enough when i began runnning her, it would leak, mainly leaked after i stopped the engine, at first i thought it was overflow leak, but i jacked up the car, looked and it was leaking from right at the water pump.. never a problem since the water pump change.
  21. make sure you ask to keep the old oil pump.-it will ensure that they did infact replace it not just charge for something they didn't do. a good shop will give you the old parts on request.
  22. that part is still in the works....It is driveable in all gears 2wd, I have the 4wd linkage disconnected til i find a welder I trust to take on this. I could connect up the 4wd but then I would loose the throw capability of reverse. Will post more pics when i get the time to take this on.
  23. thats a good insurance payout i think. I don't even carry full coverage on mine, just liability, cause I never figured insurance would pay that much. Might have to re-evaluate my coverage. I bought my Brat with a few factors in mind, 1. is that they are becoming more rare, and it would at the very least hold the value even after I put miles on it. 2. I wanted a project 3. Better gas mileage and more fun than a legacy turbo 4. I didn't want to take my civic out of storage. 5. wanted to show off to the Chevy Ford Dodge crowd around here.
