  1. They registered my Brat as a truck at first, then when renewal time, I complained, and showed them that when i bought the Brat from CALI it was title there as a station wagon, so they were able to change mine here to Station Wagon (had to reprint the title too) only cause that was the previous category. The money saved is huge here by not having it as a truck.
  2. Subaru should have attached a bag to the spare tire, with brightly colored fuse on all automatic AWD versions to this extent.........good call

  4. The only year of that era legacy that got the VLSD was 91 Turbo. It was not even an option on the 92-94 turbo, ONLY the 91.

  6. i would only recommen not to get the potenzas, it is a crappy tire that wears out more quickly than almost any other tire.
  7. on my brat, i looked and the output seal for the axle stub is leaking some from the bottom of the seal. I plan to order new seals and install, think they are cheap, and it is easy to change to. They probably went dry from the car sitting for so long. wondering too just like you? anyone got the part number of the seal, and is there a difference left and right since the rotation is opposite, sometimes seals like this have a L and a a R
  8. beautiful hatchy. love to have one like it. (not trading my civic si hatch tho sorry)
  9. i just poured in the antifreeze and got the beast started up. Just need to "heat bend" the shifter lever and its good to drive..... will post many more pics later. also going to put together the LSD this weekend. will be trail worthy after. New MWE axles 2 weeks ago fronts. new ball joints same. anyone got a nice easy trail for a beginner? within 300 miles drive
  10. pics here : http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=14357 yay. if someone wants to host the pics and post them so they can be seen in the thread cool
  11. speaking firsthand, on subarus the oil that they put on the K&N filters will for sure get deposits of the oil on the MAF sensor, causing poor driveability when it gets to that point. be advised.
  12. sad to see, but good to see if parts from them are available from whoever owns them. I hope cars like these don't end up getting crushed. Someday, we will all need odd parts from cars in the fields.
  13. Update. looks like the front settled down, good. Last night I got most of the rest of the stuff done. new flexi top radiator hose, sectioned in with a short piece of the old, no kinks, no rubs on the snorkus of the air cleaner. Brake booster vac line extended Bled the Brakes, so now my new front brake lines are good. Got a start to the shifter slop fix, and still have to finish that, then heat bend the shifter lever forward a couple inches. tranny ground wire still needs spliced, but I am leaving the easiest part to the last well, except for changing the exhaust, which now is pressed up against the mustache bar/ torsion bar. I am dropping off my wheels today for mounting of 205/75/15 those won't require trimming, beating or bashing. next size up would be questionable. This size will make it a little better driver on the highway, yet very capable on a trail. I plan to take the car out this 3 day weekend. Pics to be posted soon with the new tires.
  14. damp garage = this probably need to check ALL the electrical connectors under the hood to start, use electrical contact spray cleaner, and then put Di-electric grease in the connectors. And watch out for critters
  15. that door has more bends in it than a.....never mind.....i keep thinking mad max and road warriors.
  16. I will just buy a couple short sections of hose different sizes you have listed and give it a try tonight. thanks.
  17. I normally don't post a question like this, but my Brat sits in the garage at home, and I am at work 8 miles away, and I planned on getting a new radiator hose at the store today on my lunch and a new brake booster hose or a section for it. Yes, I brought the Radiator hose, but forgot to take off the booster line to bring with, and forgot to measure hose diameter inside dimensions. My question: Can someone tell me the correct Brake Booster Vaccuum hose size that come off the engine, and hooks into a hose connector fastened to the Driver side strut tower, all for a 85 Brat GL. I need to put a longer hose extender on for the brake booster after my lift install. thanks
  18. the suggested mpg rating you saw on the window sticker is not derived from a odometer based "avg mpg reading done by the car computer" It was derived by math, over many many tankfuls of gas, like probably 10,000 miles average. So, drive your car for 10,000 miles, keep track of every single gas fill, the number of gallons you put in the tank. then divide the number of gallons by your 10,000 miles, in which time the car's engine will be broken in and will give an accurate true to life mpg also, what brand and grade of gas you pump into it will affect mileage. try using something other than the lowest octane gas if you want better mileage. try a name brand gas, not the local convenient store gas.
  19. I have heard stories of people renting AWD rental cars so they can go out mudding or into the mountain trails, why "beat on" personal car, when you can just rent one and "Beat the crap" out of it. I would not do this, but its the stories that would definitely think twice.
