ANY car here with rattle can paint means SERIOUS rot under the rustoleum. There is never an exception on that for cars here, but maybe not where you are from.

I was not at all impressed with importexperts quailty, but price was cheap IF, it is a car you love love love, and plan to keep forever, then give it OEM stuff, you know that stuff lasts. If you are flipping a car, and the belt is old, then at least put this cheapy set on and tell new owner it is new but needs changed in 60k

5speed d/r weight?
bheinen74 replied to raging squirrel's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I would have to guess, about 135 pounds was what my 4spd D/R felt like -
Is that the engine from the blue wagon you parted out> don't forget to add fuel pressure regulator.

you putting in a ea81 with a weber?
-
took my outback seats out, and installed these, along with the armrest too. oh, and resealed the trans inout seal, axle seals, shifter seal, fixed my popping out of reverse, installed new bearings front, new rotors and pads, new trans mounts, 1 empi axle, new tie rod ends outers, and a new steering boot.
-
My newest project car will begin, :grin:and it is not a Subaru.
-
I lifted my trans by myself. What is the status? Going to go with a Weber? or hitachi? or the newton junkyard ea82 parts?

Ugh! Timing belt woes

maybe there is someone in your town who wants a car like it, and that person is trying to disable yours to the point you would sell it to said person cheaply. -

Fuel Tank Question 85 Brat
bheinen74 replied to newgen85brat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
nobody makes new aftermarket Brat tanks. you will HAVE to source a good used one. No other options on a tank. The guy at Subaru Heaven in WI probably has 50 or more tanks. Good Luck. -

^^ yes ^ no Yes McrBrat broke his torsion bar, on his stock rear axle setup. So he installed coilovers on the back to compensate for broken torsion bar. pretty sure he got the coilovers from a ea82 GL or a RX. He ran with that setup for a while on Mntn Grizz... Then later in life, on his other Red BRat, he went to solid rear axle when he did his monster final build..

we would be happy to get one like that, yet they crush the nice straight ones out west.

the "US owners manual" says use of premium is required in the SVX, and nothing more than 10% ethanol in that car. it is listed in the manual. Why do you use midgrade, when they require and state must use premium? same goes for the turbo ej22t. the fuel filler door says premium only, so does the dash instrument cluster. My town doesn't even have a gas station, so i fill my Gerry Cans with premium for the times i get low on the SS. matter of fact, not many places within 20 miles sell the premium here I AM in the BOOOONIES>

A/C Belt Idler Pulley '87 GL EA82 Engine
bheinen74 replied to sunflowersubaru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
does anyone know the bearing part number for ea81 AC idler? mine is shot. -
I am yelling at Guido again.
-
no, i doubt that car was registered to west coast its' entire time. that car was moved to the west from somewhere.
-
most of this latter post is something the west coasters can ignore. they would have no need or use for pb-blaster, sandblasting, rust etcher inhibitor, undercoating etc. with the overspray i see on the crashbar and radiator it is as if the front has seen some paintwork prior.
-
ok. it is the internet so not sure everybody is aware good you know that.

pretty sure you know, but bedliner over rust of any sort, is like adding water to mold. You need to use rust neutralizer rust inhibitor to kill it, then you coat it, but I am positive you already know this huge important detail. bedliner is okay but it is porous and when you put it over any rusty part, the rust is spreading due to not air sealed off. bedliner is not what i would use. even if your bedliner is non porous, you need to use a rust inhibitor etcher to kill it, or you are in trouble in a few years short time when the cancer spreads. Kill your cancer.
