paint fumes, made me forget to turn radio on... wow it says open windows, don't breathe vapors. Will be working outside in the 45 F day hope it hits 50. This needs warm to be good result, but winter has set. -

To test low fuel light indicator to see if it works: 1. fill small gas can with gas and carry around with you in the back 2. drive til the gas guage is the lowest you have ever seen it. 3. keep eye on dash for a bright yellow/orangish light. 4. when light comes on, go get gas at the gas station 5. if light comes on in middle of nowhere, you can fill with the gas can you have with you 6. if the car dies out and you never saw the light, the unit has a burned out bulb or something not working, fill with the gas can, go to fuel station, fill tank, then find out how to fix it.

Great upgrades. Hey mick, i think i have a little bit of the spray can of paint left from when I did the fender probably not much in there, but you could spray into a little cup for some touchup paint for nicks and scratches here and there. I will keep it around if you need some, it matches close enough still i see. Nice SS. Lets go to the next meet.

I would buy a few of them from you, i have a bent one too i do believe.. -
good breaker bar on the front pulley going either direction should allow you to get to the 4 bolts to the TC, either top, or bottom or combination...You will be able to turn it a little with some force. whatever is broke and hangin up in the case, can be broken loose with some force of human kind on a breaker bar and cheater pipe.

Think the ground wire to radio chassis is part of the issue. That will do nothing for a aftermarket, as the ground is in the wire out the back, and black. Putting the stock ground chassis wire to the new chassis is not what the new radio is looking for stock radio is different setup. also, in my experience, the aftermarket radios cannot accept "dimmer" input from a Japanese make car. They can only accept "illumination" so you need to cut out the dimmer wire and not even hook it to the aftecrap/market radio. The "dimmer wire" on the aftemarket radio would work with a USA made car, but no Japanese car i know of. Not Honda, not nissan, not toy, not subaru.

best and cheapest to replace the trans with one from a junkyard. Should have a 30 day warranty from most yards so if that speedo unit is bad in it too, keep trying til you get a good one. Make sure you keep the ratio right for the rear diff. Or you can buy the parts for about 45 bucks and split the case yourself and be done. the drive gear is is about 30 and the driven gear about 10, well those are prices for the automatics, but the manual is bound to be somewhat same for price.

Will you help a subaru.
bheinen74 replied to The Dude Abides's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
they still have the loyale at Car Country junkyard in newton, where they let you go get your own parts off and sell for next to nothing. Or you can wait till one shows up at wrench n go. -
Original Lettering On the Fuel Door
bheinen74 replied to Subarule's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
they are out there, something may be generic on this Pretty sure the sticker was "unleaded fuel only" i can still see the entire letters shadows on my Brat of this sticker, sun fade letters on the original paint right above the filler door. also on the dash bezel is the same, right near the wiper switch/gas guage location http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-original-VW-Beetle-Unleaded-Fuel-only-sticker-decal-NOS-concours-/220884237176?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item336db9fb78#ht_500wt_1113 these types of things add to any restoration result. same goes for the door sticker on the interior panel and same goes for the Brat fun top instruction on the headliner panel. -
The time of year is now, when everyone complains of getting worse mpg, gas mileage, petrol useage, etc. Nobody seems to figure in the time the engine is running,m warming up, defrosting the windows while the ODO is not moving. Car is running, so it is using gas. But the MPG seems down, but it is not really down as much as you think. Also, winter blend gas....bad. ethanol bad. long live the Subaru winter warriors. just remember this post before searching or posting about bad mpg in the winter. Any car idling to defrost the windows, is getting ZERO MPG, yes 0 mpg.....so of course you must think.

Documented: The 1970 FF-1 Project car...
bheinen74 replied to Kostamojen's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
aw, come on. You could clean it up, find out what it is. etc. You should call the guy at Subaru Heaven, he has the stuff you need. I can get you his number if you pm me a request for it. Before he sent the last batch of 800 Subaru cars off to the scrapper, he filled the 8 huge buildings with parts from those cars. -

Oh he*l no. Never trust a kid from a detail shop to have fun with the high pressure hose under your hood. no way no way no way You maybe, and i barely say maybe, learned something the last time you had them do that and they caused you exhaust blowout......learn, run away run away..
