Deja Greet: 8 hours into ownership, 85 Brat
bheinen74 replied to kayoteq's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
"A 1985 Brat. 162k, power steering, never had a/c upgrade (and has the sticker to prove it) and generally intact, perhaps even garage-kept for some many a year." not to ruin the originality, of what looks like a nice BRAT. PS was never produced from the land of fuji on them. Someone has added it. and we need more pics of this nice looking BRAT. -

any car, older than 1991, with even a slight dent is going to get totalled. You know the reason? Because, body shops simply cannot order new parts, fenders, doors, bumpers for them anymore, and insurance companies mostly do not allow use of used old parts, they require new parts. So if new cannot be bought, then yeah they total it out. I will bet anybody who has a BRAT claim, will get it totalled for even a tailight broken a=or a dented front bumper. -

my 94 legacy GT vin 4S3BF6338R7990190 shows dealer record 2/12/2004 miles 451 I just rolled over to 47k the last week..... It came from Depoe Bay OR/ south Beach OR until yr2004 when it came to the midwest -
Do NOT use paneling or cardboard for the liner. That will attract and retain moisture, causing BAD rust. Get some do it yourself bedliner, herculiner makes roll-on stuff for 45-65 a can. There are some spray on stuff too, cheap. I like red BRATS, if this was mine i would power wash the black off, and make it right. That is new paint, and it was not done right to flake off in all the jambs, back etc. Still a Brat worth showing off, these are getting more rare every year time passes.

Napa makes parts that "fit" the car but that about it. They don't "work". Get your money back, throw the alternator back on the counter, and go get a junkyard one, OEM of course, By the way, if your battery is old, then that could be the issue overworking the alt. Sorry your old one seized, was it OEM? never charge up a dead battery using the alternator. It is bad bad for the battery and alternator. Charge a dead battery only with a charger.

kinda hate when domain registration is let forgotten. -
kindA unlucky after i read the deal. apparently he borrowed or rented the trailer for hire, and something on the trailer hitch broke , leaving part of the trailer neck attached to the hitch ball, but separating from he remaining trailer. and all he was hauling the car for was to fix a differential. Now it looks totalled (the car and the trailer). the Toy only had damage to the bumper, tail, and side panel. oh ans that car is over 4k pounds btw

had to look up to see if the old former CRX Si I sold in 2002 when it had 226k miles on it is still on the road. it appears it has last entry on 4/20/2009 so 7 years after i sold it still going. doesnt list miles but shows last registered in Ft Lupton, CO so if anyone sees a 91 CRX Si teal, that is my old one and it has got to have at leeast 400k on it now found out my 94GT wagon was an oregon car new. this is awesome. -

that van should be archived by mods into something so it is always there. -
"Kinda looks like a hearse with that canopy on, its gangster " yeah like nobody has hauled bodies in the back of a brat before...
