  1. STi stuff is. i had to adapt the stainless axle back to a non stainless pipe flange to go on my old SS.
  2. This is one of the may downfalls to plastic lexan lensed headlights. The lexan is too strong to break when the headlight is hit, so the weak link is the mount bracket for the housing. A glass lense the buckets/brackets were not the weak link the glass lens was. On those, a nudge would be replace the cheap standard light lens, standard square or standard round, and the bracket would be fine. On these new ones, you have to replace everything and even the junkyard ones have broken mount tabs 75% of the time. And if you find one with intact mount brackets, the lens is yellow 90% of the time and won't buff out nice.

  4. no, only the control arm will fail. It is the weakest link and is designed to bend to save everything else. It will have a bend in the middle of it, you could compare it to a known good control arm Taco'd control arm is the term.
  5. I can't seem to find a job here. If you leave, it will be a great time out west, but someday you will be back, family around here still? If you have parents around, coming back gets really expensive being so far away like that. I used to drive Denver to Iowa and back at least 4 times a year when i lived there, Turkey Day, summer, fall, spring. I might add, it will not be worth moving any cars at all out there from here. Go out there with nothing for cars/vehicles. Buy a few rust frees, for cheaps.
  6. you sir, will learn. please extend the pipe to the end of your car. unless you car about carbon monoxide, and other rusting gases. do what you want, but i have seen cars rust due to too short tailpipes. Speaking of i have too short cd's shorty the pimp etcs but you are too young to know. On this subject i will only give facts and you should listen to facts. science is real and the gases coming out are real. Out them past your bumper dude.
  7. i have a few lsd chunks for sale 500 each. easy fit
  8. ^ you need asap to extend your tailpipe out past the bumper. if you don't know, there is moisture and lots of corrosives in exhaust gases, and it will cause rust unless you extend past the body. trying to give help cause you will regret overlooking that. as quckly as you can go get some piping and make it go to past the bumper. trust me. exhaust gas is very acidic.
  9. Most aftermarket stuff is junk when it comes to exhaust. It will last about a year tops if you drive in salt, then it will rust in two. They might have liftetime warranty, but you are looking at shop time alot to get them replaced. Aftermarket exhaust most times do not use flanges to bolt it on, they use slip joints and need U clamps to hold together, or need welded. The cost of having someone replace something welded is a lot more than removing two bolts and replacing exhaust with factory stuff. I would not even consider it on a car you plan to drive for 5 years down the road. The only time i would do it is to sell a car quick.
  10. yes, any CEL stored on the 2005+ disables cruise. Its a safety function when you think about it. Soon, they wlll make thinkgs when the CEL comes on, it disables radio, blue tooth, wireless etc, so you are forced to being the car in for service.
  11. where are your location? go to parts store, they will clear the code for free after they read it.
  12. I like the 3.8, but why not buy a good awd subaru that is 110% on upkeep? this looks like no rust so good start, but how many miles. it may need about 2500 in repairs just for roadworthy, shocks, struts, brakes, timing chain sprockets (they are plastic sprockets and let go) tires, etc. ammoina works good for tint gunk. razor blades work too.
  13. nice to upload pics it must be on a site already (like photobucket which is free). You then go to that site, and click on the image and click the image to "copy image address" right click Then go to the USMB thread, and click the "insert image" icon looks like mountain with a sun, and then paste. submit. hope that is right. did you talk to the guy at Subaru Heaven yet? You can pm after 10 posts on here
  14. oops, sorry , my post got on wrong thread. Mods move if you want. otherwise just accept as a quirk of nature.
  15. doubt a 2.2 has a headgasket oil leak as well. check everything from oil pressure sensor, cam seals, valve cover grommits, etc. The EJ22 just doesnt commonly leak oil on a headgasket... If you get talked into a headgasket replacement when its not needed, then you blow away alot of unneccessary money, when something cheap might be the fix. If you have the 2.5 EJ25, then yeah i would never say what i have said.
  16. How about this: Install the 3.54 gear ratio of a SVX......:-\
  17. New buyer picked up the 98 RS at 7am today and took it with his trailer. Went to the Nascar Nationwide race today. Fun time, tailgated in the BRAT. Today I pulled off the Continental Snow Kings winter snow tires, installed my summer tires. the mud you see is from the parking lot at the Iowa Speedway we have had rain lately, but the race was dry. 35 miles east of the race, they got 20 minutes of hail marble sized.
  18. around here, we cannot simply wait it out, BRATS are extinct, when they come up, they are all asking 1800 and rotted. Any 600 Dollar BRAT is a great deal. Any BRAT for less than 1g is a deal, even if rotted. They are extinct.
  19. if they run, on their own power, yes 600 is a good deal. I will buy unlimited running BRATS, any year, if they are 600 with title. Yes, as many as are available and complete i offer that for them. Must have titles. I think i have it down how many more BRATS exist within a 450 mile circle around me. There are not more than 15 available.
  20. for my BRAT: Painted the beds metal strip that would hold carpet down if you have carpet. I painted it white to match the wagon wheels and the front brushquard. Also, took out the driver side lower 4wd dummy plate, and replaced it with the step plate from the right side of my former parts BRAT. So now, both side have the step plate for getting into the jumpseats. No modification steps were needed for this, plug and play. Also removed the BRAT cap earlier, summer time yay. Reinstalled the jumpseat i removed way back for hauling stuff.
  21. we don't have inspections ever, not a thing they do around here, because nobodies car would pass after 6 yrs of winter driving.
  22. Most cars on the road over 7 years old are like this around here. It is not limited to Subarus. Some shops won't even touch some cars, cause they can't put them on a hoist with out the car folding in half (yes i have seen cars fold in half before) the old citations and cavaliers of the day....
