  1. 2 turns out good here. To get a little better MPG, should it be turned 1/4 more which way, in or out? mine runs good either at 2, or at 1 3/4 or at 2 1/4 I would like to know which will give better fuel mileages.
  2. wow beautiful shape, it was like brand new until i saw the engine shot, but even that can be detailed. Cant wait for more info. take care of it, should be a great car.
  3. sounds like some sort of CEL without a light being flashed. Might be a number of sensors from knock sensor to coolant temp sensor. could also be a sporadic IACV You can get a code reader from harbor freight for less then 50 bucks using coupon codes.
  4. redline does not have a good reputation, someone there needs to get better. did you seal the adapter well, and block off the coolant passageway? Is your choke functioning correctly.
  5. sort of related, someone on the west coast could make decent money cutting sections out for us rust belt folks and marketing them to us as needed.
  6. If you can do all the work yourself (welding, etc) you can be okay. If you have to pay someone to do the work, it would be better off to pull off the good parts, and wait for a rustfree shell to show up from west coast. Thats why we junk em. But for an 87, thats really pretty good still. If that was me, i would weld in tubular steel NEXT to the rotted rails, and make brakckets from the new tubes lated to the subframe mounts, trans crossmembers, seatbelt mount.
  7. contary to what you installed *Weber Carb 32/34** those Webers are not designed for fuel economy, they are a performance carb. The stock one is more efficient by quite a bit, even if the weber is tuned perfectly, a fresh stock carb will give better mpg. You could bump the timing one more degree depending on how you drive it and if you use consistent same gas all the time.\ add another 1-2psi per tire. make sure brakes are well serviced, and nothing is sticking. If you have a roof rack, take it off.
  8. then you need to pull off axle and rotate 180...... yes it is possible to still drive the pin in, but if you pull off axle and rotate 180 it will line up perfect.
  9. can you turn that axle 90degrees counterclockwise, and show the pic looking down into the hole
  10. are you using a roll pin punch, or a regular tapered punch?
  11. At some point, I would say grind the end off, and try using a punch to punch it back in the other direction and remove on the other end. have you used good vice grips and a slide hammer to them? I think maybe it was installed 180 off.
  12. my parents went to a 16" wrx rim; chose to not stay with their stock lo profile 17" on their 06 Legacy 2.5i Then they chose a tire size 205/60/16 giving them about a half inch taller tire. Ride is much better. Tires are cheaper. holds the road better, less wandering. narrower tire gives better winter snow traction. Then my dad put 1" spacers under the front topmounts so he can get his shop jack under the front bumper. Its the little things that can be done.
  13. crazy kids. I had an IASCA car once. the only thing to look forward to is smashed windows and theft. Put the stock stuff back in and no issues for the rest of your life.

  16. please post a pic of when you have the left front supported by a jackstand, and the frame rail center. ps the shock towers are toasted, basically not close to safe to drive. You have lots of money to fix, like 2-3g to fix that to safe. \your 600 dollar brat will cost more than a solid 2g brat on ebay to run and drive it.

  18. its very doubtful his timing just went off, simply by replacing a valve cover gasket. if you read how his problem started, he had a oil leak so he replaced the valve cover gasket. While the airbox was out, and off, Ben cleaned the maf. It was running fine until those 2 things were done. Now, how would the timing go off. I think its maf related. If he had not cleaned the maf, his car would be fine. Maf is dead perhaps. I read he then tried cleaning the maf again, maybe that was the death blow to the sensor in the maf.
  19. well, trust me, going from about 6 or so Turbo Legacies, to a CA spec BRAT, i was like, huh. hills sucks, passing is thought to not even try, etc. no fears, still got a ej22t longblock and the crossmember sitting on the shelf with only 85k on it, but there are no mechanical problems on the old brats ea81, and it doesnt use or leak oil etc, only 129k on it. I have replaced the stock CA spec hitachi with a Weber, and it is still gutless, but i was able to pass a ea82 going 75 and we both had 27.5 inch tall offroads on and lift.

GD is right, but 91 parts will go on a 92-94 if you switch everything, which everything is: Grille, bumper and beam, headlights, fenders, hood, corner lights. 92-94 will go on a 91 if you switch everything, which is: Grille, bumper and beam, headlights, fenders, hood, corner lights. It is said the front radiator support is the same, but for sure bumper beams, etc are a different setup. You could physically bolt the 92-94 hood on a 91, but when you attempt to close the hood shut, you will see the mismatch lineupd of everything from the grill to the headlights. And you cant just swap grill and headlights too, cause then they won't fit the bumper.
  21. Your town in Idaho has 3000 more people than my town has. We don't have a gas station, just a post office, volunteer fire dept, and a Bar, no stoplights, no school, no grocery no convenient store.
