  2. 93 legacy 2.2, and i need to replace the coolant temp sensor but not quite sure where it is. I've been looking all over the intake manifold but dont see it a little help would be great, (pics even better) Thanks David
  3. I used to have a 82 datsun pickup that used the double coils and 8 plugs. If i remeber right one plug is set to fire a little advanced and the second retarded. It was vacume controled and when you opened it up it was supposed to cut one the plugs to change the timing. Just so you know. David
  4. I havent delt with the ssr's personaly but i have some wildcat ext's on my 83 third hand from mudrat. He had them siped new. He spotted the wheels on my wagon last summer and told me that those tire had over 50,000 miles on them. He claimed that the siping made them last longer and handle better when new on the street. They were pretty worn down by the time i got them but still did supisingly well on wet pavement. Sounds like he wheeled the tires fairly hard and i did as good as i could and their were hardly any chunks taken out. I am going with ssr's for my next set and i was planing and siping them. Dave
  5. I read that too and tried it in my 83. I blew up a piston the next tank of gas. I dont know if it is realated at all but i didnt see any improvement in mpg's or power. Im not trying it again. David
  6. Got down under there and took a look. The cable end had sliped off the mixer. Put it back on heat works fine. Thanks for the help. How it got switched to cold when it was disconnected i'll never know. David

Just thinking, i dont know the draw of your welder usaly quite a lot, but once you start looking at inverters over 1000w expecialy if you want a true sine( needed to run most electronics and more sensitive electric motors ie compressors friges. It is usaly cheeper to actualy to go buy a little gas generator like a honda i series. David
  8. Sounds pretty close to what i had in the 83 wagon. Now most of it is swapped into the legacy. Go with the group 31 blues. 75 ah instead of 55 in the group 27's. If you have a good marine supply store go their they will have everything you need cause boats all have killer battery systems. A big gm alt. would sure help too. You can fit one blue top in the spare location easy two might require a little adjusting. (BFH) The best thing about the optimas is that they are sealed like a gel but work and react just like a lead acid. I put in a battery charger so i can top them off at home or run the lights and stereo when im parked (you never know when you might need to have a little impromt to party.) I also added a blues seas ACR (automatic charging relay) This allow the alt. and battery charger to charge both the start and deep cycle. And then disconnects the two banks when the car is off and then the accesseries just draw from the deep cycle. It has a remote switch so you can override it and start from the deep cycle if for some reason your start battery goes out. PM me if ya want to know any more. David
  9. Since the heat worked for the first three weeks im guessing its not bypassed, so i'll pull the glove box. Theirs just so much plastic in these newer cars takes forever just to get to the broken part. I guess im too used to my 83. Thanks for the help. David
  10. Ive had the car for about a month. a week ago the it would only blow hot air no matter what setting or temp it was at. It was like this this morning. Left the car for ten hours. Came back started it up and with the car warmed up fully it would only blow cold air. Im guessing it has to do with the linkage to the mixer for the air but havent really done a whole lot of work on this car. So has anyone had a simalar problem. I pulled the radio but that does not allow access to the HVAC controls. Where is the mixer located is their an easy way to access it? I work at a ski area so heat is kinda a nessacity. I could see my breath the whole drive home tonight. Nothing like working out side in 20 degree weather only to have to drive and hour and a half home with no heat. Any help would be great.   12. If you have a lot of draw i would say go with two batteries. A optima red top has a 2 or 3 year full replacement warrenty and you will have to work hard to kill one in that time. Ive had one for 1 1/2 years and have drained it all the way down quite a few times and you just jump it and charge it back up and it'll sit at 12.6 forever. When i started adding lights and stereo stuff i added a second optima a group 31 blue top and a automatic charging relay. This seperates all the accesories from the start battery and runs them off the deep cycle while the car is off so you wont drain your start battery if your hanging out with the lights or stereo on for a long time and the car is not running. When the relay sences that the alternator is charging again it connects the two batteries and charges them both. I also added a little 10 amp 4 stage marine battery charger so if i want to run the accesories for a long time i can just plug the car in and keep my batteries charged up. One great thing about the optimas is that the red top is rated at 1000 cold cranking amps. Thats way over kill for our little subaru's starter but that means if you drain your battery down to 12.2 or so it'll will still crank the engine over when a normal battery would not. David

  14. It did just take off the anti roll bar last weekend but didnt notice any noise right after that, i'll through it back on and see if it goes away thanks for the help David

  16. This is in my 83 4wd wagon 4 sp. Ok i've got a new noise i dont like this one. Started on the freeway in traffic this moring. When im in gear above 2500 rpms or so and let off the gas all the way i get a clunk clunk noise. It'll happen too if im riding a long at a good rpm and push the cluch in real quick. I've been under the car and made sure all my lift bolts are good and tight. The axles seem fine, no slop and no noise when turing. Nothing seems loose. I check the front diff/ tranny oil and it was 3/4 full with bubbles in it. Are bubbles bad, im going to change the fuild tonight but am looking for guesses for where the clunks from. I know its hard with out hearing it first hand but im just looking for a plase to start. The noise is a rather low clunk clunk and then nothing untill i make it do it again. Thanks for any and all help David

  18. the car is getting a new paint scheme soon (rattle rattle) i had some plasitc primer and wanted to see how it worked on the pvc. Right now the paint is marine top side paint. Its a super hard paint that doesnt really scratch. David
  19. The consol is mdf with some filler over it so its all smooth. The switches are for all the accesseries ie... rad. fans, stereo, spreader lights, cb radio. I work at a boat store so i get all this cool electrical stuff for cheap. Its a fuse pannel and switch pannel combined.
  20. Thanks guys for the bannanas. I have bumpers being made by mudrat, and am getting swampers when i put some money together. I need to make up a roof rack so i can carry a spare and still be able to put boards in the rack. Hopefully i can get an lsd from somewhere. I have a delta cam for it but need to take an engine apart to but it in, so probaly later this winter. Its getting a snow camo paint job for the winter too. This car may be too much fun.
  21. naw dont worry about the rain i have a plastic bucket that fits over the top untill i finish making a nice one out of metal. though i am surpirsed how much noise comes out of the intake its pretty loud at WOT with the window open.
  22. I built mine last for around $45, $25 was just for the filter. I have a weber so i used an extra bottom filter plate (from having to buy a low rise filter) and mounted flange plate for the pvc pipe, then to an elbo (i had to cut it down to get it to clear the hood. Then to some heavy duty air hose from the boat store i work at (good to over 250f and is pretty have to rip). ran that to the fender then pvc pipe held with sheet metal screws through hose clamps up the side then a 3"-2" adapter and the filter at the top. I still have to build a cover right now i am running with a bucket over it. more pics in my gallery David
  23. I said screw it and made a new consol in my 83 that stuck outand then replace the stock speakers they such get some cheepos off the internet. (hifisoundconnection.com) well thats what i did David

  25. Well since money is no object to me (thats why i drive an $600 car right) i think im going to go with swampers. The kuhmos look like they have the same tread pattern as the wildcat rvt's which ive had before they are deffently a soild tire, but i like mud and so do swampers. Thanks for the adivise, i get paided later this week so its off to the tire store after that. Has anyone had the swampers siped for better snow traction? David
